High Torque Piston & Gear Recommendations?
So last piston I got, it got shredded rather quickly. Decided to do it right this time.
Looking for a good piston + gearset combination, and for the sake of quality, let's not let cost stand in the way. Currently running a 400FPS SiG552. Last piston I had held for about 4 long, heavy fire games, then got torn apart. Any recommendations for a good combination of piston + gearset? EDIT: A good recommendation for a spring guide would be nice as well.

- What battery are you using?
- What spring are you using? - What motor are you using? |

- 9.6V 2200mAh by G&P (8.4V 1600mAh by Intellect as a backup).
- Modify S100. - SystemA High-Torque; Medium Length. Anything else needed to be known?

Modify stuff if your on a budget. To ensure the piston stays in tact, make sure the Angle of engagement of the piston is right on.
If your willing to spend more, I would either go the the Prometheus Hard, or the Sstem supercore piston, with Prometheus gears. I have used modify pistons in a few guns, and had great results with them.

Couldn't find one
I was looking at the Prometheus Hard piston though. Didn't know if that would suit my needs or not.

systema magnums are crap
use a prometheus torque or double torque gearset and a prometheus piston. THEY ARE TANKS. I've run 100,000 rounds through one of mine and it looks just like it did at 10,000 rounds And I've never had a prometheus piston strip on any of my, or my customer's guns |

SIG uses the rare medium length motor though, doesn't it?
I have never seen one made by anyone but Systema.

Awesome input about the torque and double torque gearsets and the piston. Probably end up investing in those for some nice long-lasting durabilty.
And yea, SIGs use the medium motor, and to what I know they only come as stock-replacement parts and SystemA parts. I'm not a huge fan of the pinion gear that comes on them, but plan on replacing that with the rest of the parts I'll end up replacing soon as well.

You shouldn't need any torque up gear level at all for that specific spring, but going one level up doesn't hurt (ie Systema Energy Torque Up or Prometheus Double Torque.) It just slows down your ROF a bit.
As for the piston, I've always recommended the Prometheus piston, and my opinion on it still hasn't changed. Replace the pinion gear with an Eagle Force gear. WAY stronger. |

The only reason I go double torque is to reduce strain on the motor, my M249 uses triple torques and still fires 1000rpm with a 7.2v 4200mah NIMH!

And thanks for the pinion gear recommendation.

I know they fit the old Systema motors, though... I just assumed they would be the same as the new motors. Anyways, NEVER use a hammer. Use a pinion gear tool. If you just use a hammer, the shaft remains unsupported and when you try to get the pinion gear on, you'll damage the motor. |

Eagle force pinion is the best quality and the best dollar for dollar buy for the old style non grub screw pinion gear bought mine for 4.50. |
