JG Thundermaul - mods?

I was able to buy a hardly used thundermaul off kijiji for 100$.

I have taken off the alien crap plastic. I now have a few idea's but need some help putting it together.

I'm thinking of making it into a nice M4. Just wondering though, can it be made into an AK-47 with just the wood stocks added on?

Anyways, couple things I'd like is the recoil mod, seems simple enough, and SIR rail system. Now I need a place to store my battery as well, and wondering if I'm going to need to extend my barrel to fit SIR, probably going with a nice and cheap dboys. Would like to put a flash hider as well.

Another thing is I'd like to change the grip if possible, I am left handed for shooting and it's a right hand grip.

Also, anyone know if I need a fuse between the motor and battery?

Any/all suggestions are welcome, I'd like to put as much steel as possible on this thing but also want to do it budgetly.

I am currently in the middle of getting age verified then I will try to look on the boards.

Thanks for reading!

WTF? Armalite and AK47 are COMPLETELY different guns, thats like trying to make a Corolla into an F150 by taking the lid off the trunk and saying its a truck bed

a M4 uses a armalite receiver and magazines and a ak 47 uses ak mags and a totally different receiver. two totally different ends of the spectrum. its not like a paint-ball gun.

a fuse isn't necessary as long as your not going to hold down the trigger for to long and blow up your gun. but it is a decent safety feature

If you are focused on doing so with a budget than you maybe restricted to using aluminum or pot metal.

If you are planning on doing the recoil mod then I believe you will be required to house the battery in the front of the gun. Since the thundermaul is already front wired you are good to good. Options at this time for housing a battery would be in that of a typical classic hand guard, a faux AN/PEQ and I believe you can fit a small cell battery in a SIR/CASV hand guard as well. Grip replacement is easy, as there are many designs and styles out there, all you need to do is select one that you like.

Ok thanks, I purchased a 7.4v li-poly and am rewiring it from EC3 to mini tamiya.

Was considering this hand guard. I'll research the faux AN/PEQ's as well.

Iam also changing my thundermaul into a proper M4 and all you need is a hand guard. i bought a d-boys metal cqb recently (excited)

i wouldn't reccomend using a lipo because the 8.4v 1100 mah NI-MH battery gives a nice rof and you can just get a peq box that can store a higher voltage battery and it will shoot nicely.

if you didn't know lipo's need a special charger that balances the cells etc a wall charger or something will cause some collateral damage, or so i hear.

to use that hand guard you need a new outer barrel, and you might want a new inner barrel, the maul comes with a weird barrel meant for the body kit,

I am hoping that the hand guard might be short enough for stock outer barrel and then I can just add a flash hider to go a tad bit beyond the guard, if not then yea I'll look for a new inner and outer barrel.

May I ask the brand/model of the magazine?

i cheaped out on mags, those be star real caps, with a dboys mag clamp, and a dboys cmag,

any m4 barrel would work, the front end i got came with one, depending on the barrel and hand guard you will need a gas block as-well.

i might be wrong but isn't a cqb a 10.5" barrel? the maul uses a 6" or close to it.

the hand guard will work, but the barrel might be to short without a new one.

OK, so dboys cmag is added to the list, read though that it won't fit hk416, this wouldn't have the same base as that would it?

For taking the plastic body apart to access to mechbox, is it just the metal dowels holding it together? Then I can slowly break the plastic in half?

Gas block something that bolts onto the barrel for the hand guard to bolt to?

This is what I have to work with, pretty bare.
