ICS new hop up
To start things off I know that a similar thread is present in this forum.
I am looking to replace my stock hop-up on my ICS m4 with either a classic army, G&P,or a king arms hop up.Out of those what would you guys reccomend and what needs to be done to use a regular hop up in detail(what needs to be dremmeled and by how much) Thanks all. |

You can't use a stock one. ICS has a proprietary hopup unit to accomodate the split mechbox design. No other standard hopup will work. You have to get an ICS one. And as far as I know, no one makes an aftermarket 'upgraded' one.
I hear it's possible to mod, but honestly, I think that despite being plastic, the ICS is a superior design.

thank you for your reply the problem with mine may be the barrel since it is a sprotsline barrel.I will install a tight bore and see if that works.Would still like to know how to use other ho up's though..

Agreed. I already looked into this to go the other way actually, putting an ICS into a regular AR AEG. If the ICS unit is not working to expectations, all you can do is replace the sleeve and bucking assembly as they are standard, and/or replace the barrel with a tightbore.

A 6.03-6.04mm tightbore + Guarder clear hopup rubber & bucking will more than likely fix issues you may have.
You can mod another hopup to work, but you will be losing the awesome stability of the ICS hopup. That's the issue with a normal AR style hopup. After a while, it needs to be readjusted because it tends to loosen from the vibration of shooting your gun. The ICS will always stay exactly where it's supposed to be.

what are you trying to do?
the ICS hop up units is VERY consistent. but if you want to use a new hop up rubber, you need to change the tightbore as well(The position of the cut is slightly different on the ICS barrel). I've worked on a couple ICSs before, one of them being the cansoft smoked body M4. This set up worked great in his Madbull 6.03mm barrel(363mm) systema hop up rubber(Must wash with kitchen detergent before use. People ignore this step and wonders why it doesn't produce the accuracy they want) just those two should be fine |
