16mm to 14mm thread adapter
ok. so i've done some looking around and can't seem to find the adapter i need.
does anyone here know where i can get a 16mm cw female to 14mm ccw female adapter? or have the tools to do it? i could make it myself but buying the taps would cost me an arm and a leg even with the company discount. any help is appreciated

the problem is the cost of tooling. i need a shop that already has the tooling to keep the cost reasonable. a 14mm 1.5 pitch ccw tap is like $150 if i remember the price i got from my supplier.

necro.
so I'm still searching for an adapter. I'm slowly leaning towards getting a tap and dye set but the majority of the kit would be useless to me and there's a small chance that a cheaper kit won't have the right size. btw, I need a 16mm CW (female) to 14mm CCW (male) adapter. |

I bought myself a set from there, they are reliable should be 100 for die AND tap shipped plus customs |

Thanks. Before I buy, I'll see if I can find a metal shop to make one.
If I do buy, I'll see if I can use a pre-made adapter and bore it up. Then I'll just need the right tap. Like this 14mm to 14mm adapter: Just not sure if there's enough material left if the inside is opened to 16mm. Last edited by coach; October 11th, 2009 at 21:34.. |

yeah, I figured as much. I have a g36 adapter I'm using modify my MP5SD front end but it's too big.
I guess I'm back to square one on that idea. I have found one but it's in the UK. not about to fork over the kind of money they are asking for it though. $33USD plus almost double that for shipping. edit: my only other option is to find someone with the PFI smokecap suppressor and buy the 16mm adapter off them and use it with the original marui tracer unit. yes, I want to put a tracer unit on a TM mk23. I just picked up the JG unit and I originally thought I could bore up the mount as well but with the placement of the on/off switch, there's not going to be enough material either. I've already jerry-rigged the TM tracer unit on the mk23 but it was a compression fitting which made removing tough to do. I don't think it'll be an issue but I'll remember to check the alignment before I fire the first shot.
After more searching, there might be another way to 'make' an adapter. Since I already have the G36 threaded adapter, I'm going to see if I can find a nut at HD that will fit the outer barrel, then JB weld it together. Or I can order the 16mm thread protector and mill it to fit. for me it'll be easier than trying to thread something. :/ + + + a few set screws Last edited by coach; October 11th, 2009 at 23:29.. |

Head 1950 and Nineball made a -16 to -14mm adapter for the TM MK23... I use to have it on my 1st MK23 (I've had 3 so far)
I had a nice thin silencer on the MK23 and it was beautiful. |

Thanks Amos. Will add that to my search list but the mk23 is 16mm+ (CW or right hand) Other adapters that I found are 16+ to 14+.
DenTrinity actually just replied to my email. Quote:
I've also email a couple other places that have a custom adapter but they appear to be out of the airsoft business. |
