Stippling

Has anyone here stippled their pistol grip before? I've found my grip to be a bit slippery and wanted to get more grip. I know that I can get tape but I don't want to have to replace it. Stippling seems to be a decent permanent solution to the problem. I've test stippled some plastic parts and although not as grippy as Tru-Grip it definately does provide more friction over my current slick "stippling".

Also, how would stippling affect the resale value of my GBB? Would people pay more/less/not give a rats ass? It's a time consuming process and I'd like to know if it'd be worth it in the end.

STI Factory stippled grip. (Large and Small stippling)

Glock with small/fine stippling. (This is the type I plan to do)

The stipple on the Glock looks like the stick on sticker kind. Something like they use on skateboards. I could be wrong its hard to tell.

I would never buy a glock that looks like that, I'm sure many people would agree, some may not.

Get a hogue grip, much better grip (rubberized) than stippling and its removable.

(As zone 69 said, that does look a lot like Skateboard grip tape)

Dude...go for it. Beprepared to toss it if you melt right through it (that's why I haven't done it yet!). It'll probably detroy the resale value of the pistol (except to another race gun shooter)...but that's not the point.

I really don't like it, but I'm also not a fan of Glocks or HiCapas/2011s or race guns in general. But it's definitely not something I'd want on a Beretta 92, 1911, or my revolver for example. Partial to Hogue and Pachmayr, or oldschool checkering.

If this is your performance pistol and you can afford to replace the grip (just in case, since accidents happen) then go for it. If it's well done, it will most likely appeal to another race shooter or collector. For those who aren't fans of the style of gun, it shouldn't really make a difference for resale anyhow.

While the Koba *feels* good, the fit and finish isn't anywhere close to the tolerance of the stock grip. Even the SD grip leaves some gaps. Azuki's running a WA, and IIRC the Koba isn't available. There's something to be said for a great end product when you've put time and effort into it.

Really? It fits perfect on mine. How do you mean exactly?

I use skater griptape (I have it on my AEGs and sniper rifles and love it, never had to replace it before) and I use rubber bicycle innertube on my pistols (both my Glock 19s and both my Mk23s), works great and I hate using a pistol without it.

On my Koba in particular, at the right side of the grip it's not formed quite correctly - you can see through a small gap between the grip and the beavertail safety and actually see the hammer bar that depresses the hammer spring.

My SD grip doesn't sit quite as flush to my frame as the stock one does - there's about a half mm gap.

Oh yeah that. Yeah there's a space there but I don't really notice it. All other parts of the grip match up very nicely.

Any alternatives to TanioKoba for WA? Also what parts for a GBB are restricted? I thought grips were illegal as well as the frame... *confused*.

The frame is restricted on most GBB's. On a Hicapa it's the midframe, grips are ok to import.

So every other part excluding the frame is legal to import? Hmm... I might considering ordering a better grip from overseas next time...
