Aks and Rails
Alright flame suit is ready, first of all I don't care if you think Rails don't belong on an AK, I want mine to look different and second, I like to 'accessorize' my guns ergo I'm in this forum.
My question, my simple question which I hope doesn't get me booed off stage: I'm looking into slowly building an Kraken AK and in the way of aesthetics I was wondering if I can attach BOTH the tactical kit and the Metal rail mount (both of which are found here http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=344 and http://buyairsoft.ca/catalog/product...roducts_id=342 ) YEAH ITS BUYAIRSOFT.CA IM ON A BUDGET AND HAVE NO NEED FOR *&#$ING BRAND NAME AEG An AK without wood you say, blasphemy, well w/e sorry if I'm not thrilled to post here, the quality of replies I get are generally pathetic |

U wanna see rails!? heres my baby TM made with many, many upgrades. I love it. One of the guys I play with suggested adding a tri-rail scope as well. So im looking into that.
As for the rail you are looking at, I had the exact same one for a while with and RDS. And they are easy to install ona kraken as well. I recently sold mine to kraken owner.

Ktown, which rails do you actually use, and with what on them?

Nothing at the moment, Im saving up for a decent tri-rail scope. Mostly cosmetic look right now. But now I have options for accesories for whatever scenario Im playing.

"Yeah I'mna get 3 rails on the front, 3 on the scope, 3 on the top cover, and put one or two things on the AK" Sorry mate, but I find that very stupid.

For me, I love the look of mine in the sense that its not like every other AK in the field. For me I hate AUGs, ugliest gun ever made. But some people like em. Lets stick to the OP question at hand mate.

I have nothing against him of course. Just don't understand it. I suppose the rails look good to some people, even if they're not in use.

Gundy, also look into ehobbyasia fo parts and accesories. They have a decent price, but unfortunatly at the moment our canadian dollar is shit right now, and all their prices are US currency. But nontheless, check it out to get a baseline or just to compare prices.
Airsoftparts.ca is also another supplier I use frequently.

Yeah, you can find rails and accessories at eHobby or Ebaybanned a lot cheaper than buyairsoft most likely, and also better quality.

Take something like: It's not like the whole top rail is going to get covered in optics. But a magnified scope can be positioned for optimal eye relief while the rifle is being held comfortably. Same for the bottom rail and the vertical front grip. And if someone decides to add a light, or AN/PEQ, or whatever, no special mounts or adapters are required. While the Eastern philosophy still favors the simple, inexpensive AKs -- as do purists in the West (all of whom are civilians) -- when I decided not to sell my [airsoft] AK and was researching ideas as to what to do with it, I came across several "heated discussions" between purists (real steel) and actual AK users from Western-aligned/NATO countries (mostly Poland and Hungary). The purists think it's ugly but the people whose lives depend on it don't care how a tool looks, and want the functionality as well as the options their brothers in other NATO countries are enjoying. Western users (contractors and SF), of course, are already sold on the rails. Here's an Iraqi soldier operating with US forces (using a Tabuk): While most of the peanut gallery will cheer the ghettoness of the setup (and it's unfortunate that some have come to equate AKs with "poor"), realistically that's a very unfortunate (although pragmatic) setup. If my life was on the line, I'd want something a bit less ghetto. Some variants (Romanian AIMS, Hungarian AMD, Polish Beryl, etc) come with a built-in vertical foregrip, but the ability to choose and position (or remove) the foregrip is still lacking. AMD-65 with Ultimak rail kit: You may not like the look, but the functionality is undeniable. Like it or not, we're in the age of customizability: smart phones with the software you want rather than what the manufacturer decided to put on, vests with MOLLE rather than a pouch configuration someone else thought would be useful, and guns with rails that allows mounting accessories as the user sees fit.

nice AK!
although for the rail story I'v seen super-badass warriors with duct taped scopes and flashlights, it's sad but fully railed rifles scream 'airsoft' more and more to me...

The AMD is a wicked version of the AK.
Look up Black Heart International. They have the SOPMOD AK. Has a bunch of rails and includes an offset grip. It's about what the OP calls for, not what might be better looking. |
