Kraken Modification problems
I would like to mention some problems that occurred during my upgrades to the Kraken AK-47. This is what you may expect using the TM clone mechbox (also J.G Mechbox).
(if i made dumb choices, don't bash me on that please.) Mods/parts that i have: Modify Bearing Spring Guide - V3 Upgraded the spring guide but the slots on each shell were too small, you need to file them a little to make a tight fit. Modify Cylinder Set - AK47 Series The provided spring does not fit into the piston, so i had to order a new spring. Also, the cylinder head did not fit into the poles on each shell. so i had to use a dremel tool to enlarge the holes. Tenergy 8.4v 3600mah NiMH Large Battery Large batteries do not allow you to close the stock using the.. end piece? you will have wires sticking out and battery slightly sticking out by a few millimeters. King Arms AK Hop-up unit This got ugly... the sliding piece (where you adjust with your finger) was too large so i had to melt it down so i can get the top part on (where the stick battery sits) DO NOT GET THIS HOP-UP UNIT Mad Bull 6.03mm Tightbore Barrel - 455mm Mad Bull M100 AEG Upgrade Spring Needed for the piston Modify High Speed Modular Gearset Marui V2/V3 I had to file the holes in the mechbox to get the bushings to fit Prometheus Air Seal Chamber Packing (Soft Type) all these were tested on 2 TM clone (one was J.G.) mechboxes.. same results my upgrades are pretty much done for now, but i want to use that battery, what should i do? is there a homemade end piece i can make?

You seem to be bashing the parts, not the (seemingly, you even said it yourself) shitty mechbox shell.

I am not bashing anything, and if i did it would be the damn mechbox shell. Since the kraken is 100% TM compatible, i would have not expected any problems, but got caught on several.
just letting others know what may be expected with upgrade products on the KRAKEN Ak-47. as you see, i got all parts to work, i'm a complete airsoft noob and im pretty proud of myself.

Uh-oh... Kraken broken?
Oh, I found a new project to put it to good use: LOL. Couldn't resist. Good work on fixing your own problems though. Last edited by 808; September 8th, 2008 at 23:39.. |

Aw man I was thinking of getting the Kraken and adding in a Modify set but seeing how difficult it is might as well get a TM

100% Marui compatible. People still believe that?
Used car salesmen must love some of you guys.

No clone of any TM gun will be exactly 100% Marui compatible because the companies who make the clones will never get the original molds that TM uses. My logic tells me the clone companies reverse engineer the guns, so there always is a margin of error.
With that being said however, the Kraken does provide alot of value, provided that you modify parts for an upgrade. |

It appears that the newer krakens release are the ones NOT completely Marui compatible, because AFAIK the older versions were pretty much drop in for TM parts.

i got the one of the newer models of krakens. most all of my parts internal and external are g&p. i didnt have any trouble at all fitting parts and what not
i quit reading when i got to the part about the battery and everything not fitting. get a better damn stock than the krakens, they have a lot more room inside

Krakens come with a 1200mah 8.4v large type Ni-Cd battery. Which is the same physical size as your upgraded 8.4v 3600mah Ni-Mh battery.
