Hi-capa barrel bushing confusion

Hi all,
I have a Hi-Capa 5.1 with Davidson Custom slide.
Now I what to go for the SD threaded barrel. I understand that the diameter of this barrel is smaller - so I need a barrel bushing.
The SD bushing kit will not fit the slide (I found some photos here showing that the slide needs a special notch).
What kind of bushing do I need? One for the 1911 (because the barrel is also for 1911)?
How is it fixed on the slide?

I hope you can help.
Thanks a lot,
Diddie

The dimensions of the notch between a 1911 and a Shooters Design Hi-Capa notch / bushing is different.

You will not be able to interchange.

You can only use the Shooters Design barrel bushing with a Shooters Design straight outer barrel with a Shooters Design slide that has the bushing notch cut in to it. (not all Shooters Design slides have the notch.)

If you have the equipment and the skill, you can cut your own notch.

If you must have a threaded outer barrel, there are threaded bull barrel options available (Tanio Koba).

Illusion knows his stuff cold...

I've cut a slot into a slide to take a 1911 bushing...and it's a pain in the add to get it bang on. It'll work, but it's a b*tch and you don't really get a second chance.

Best of luck

I found the photos you posted 2 years ago. I was hoping to find some other bushing that is easier make it fit.
I don't want to destroy the beautiful slide So, you think Dremel is the only way?

Don't make the bushing to fit the slide - you HAVE to make the slide fit the bushing, unless you can figure out some other ingenious way to mount the bushing. It's not just a slip-fit sleeve - it actually locks in to the slide to prevent coming off. You need to create some type of locking channel, or else the bushing will go flying off on each shot as the slide returns to battery.
Performing destructive modifications to your beautiful slide is your only option if you absolutely have to mount a barrel bushing. If I were you, I'd just get a threaded bull barrel.

BTW, there are options other than the SD system, and if the Davidson's custom already have a notch cut in, it might be that of the regular TM1911 bushing(which is the case with the new Airsoft Surgeon/Pro G4 slides). In that case you can use TM1911 bushing, or the line of Bushing that Nova makes....

Where'd you get this info on the Airsoft Surgeon slide with the barrel bushing? I'm intrigued in yet another build now... if what you're saying is true. pwuahahaha

I forgot where I've seen it(either Arnies or Airsoft-barracks), but someone built a kimber with their kimber slide and was using a Nova bushing with it.....

certainly open up the options....for 1911 or Hi-Capa.....

I really want to know if their 4.3 slide have bushing cut in them....

I have the Marui MRP-OPS 4.3 slide and it does not have the bushing slot. I have several 5.1's and some more 4.3's coming in as well... will update if I do find a bushing slot on it.

Oh wait, I just totally realized:
I'm pretty sure the 5.1's will have the bushing slot, since they are all sold as compatible with both Hi-Capa 5.1 as well as 1911's.
Airsoft Surgeon does have a Kimber model - unfortunately, they do not have an all black model (that I've seen.)
