Hop up installation

I recently purchased a KA metal m4 hop up and a guarder clear hop up rubber. However, i'm not sure what sort of lubricant to use. Do i use silicone lube or silicone oil? And suggestions? Thanks.

No, WD-40 is a solvent based lubricant. (it might eat away at bits of your gear.)

Looks like it might be alright, but you have to check for petroleum ingredients.

Right. They'll eat away at your seals and rubber.

Also, my Ka m4 hop up came with two rubber rings. Where do those go? Also, i managed to fit the rubber in without any oil. Is that bad?

Those rubber rings are for making better seals I believe. Look up pics of the KA hopup. And it's better to have some lube on the rubber, but if it went in fine then that's ok.

Silicone oil.

Why?
Silicone oil is an excellent electrical insulators. It can resists the flow of electric current. and also intends to support or separate electrical conductors without passing current through itself. "Wikipedia".

So.....You can pretty much lube any part of the gun. WD-40 won't cut it. Like some of the others said, it probably WILL eat away your seals.

Yeah, cause there's a lot of electric current going through your hopup.

WTF in this thread too.

I use that silicone spray for the mechanisms of my GBBs and it works great. There's no pertroleum in it.

Silicone spray is useless on an AEG. Get some lightweight silicone oil from Airsoft Innovations or airsoftparts.ca and use that.
