Least Smelly Brand of Propane?

I use propane exclusively in my GBB now and I know that propane is scented so you can easily smell a leak but that poses a problem for us airsofters. What brands do you guys find smell the least? I found Coleman propane to be bearable and mild. I just got this new stuff from Superstore (Loblaws for those in the east) called Propane Expert and that stuff is STRONG and tends to linger for quite a while. It smells like rotting eggs and is just generally unpleasant.

Heh heh, I can just picture the smell giving your position away... or maybe it would deter people from finding you? "Oh man, do smell that? Smells like shit!"

Seriously though, I found that Coleman's seems to do the job.

I've tried different propane types, from torch cannisters to camping cannisters, and the least smelly IMO is Coleman. I have to agree that of the ones I've tried, it's easily the most bearable, and the smell dissipates the fastest.

I bought this one cannister at a small mom & pop store downtown a couple of months ago. It stunk like nobody's business. I fired a couple of mags in my basement, and had to stop and open a window. I went out for the afternoon, and on my return, I could still smell it, but everywhere in the house rather than just the basement.

I think it's just us getting used to the smell, I now associate the smell of propane with a GBB and it doesn't smell so bad, on the other hand I have family and a significant other who hate the smell.

Coleman's isn't that bad, but I notice that unlike whatever used to be in Chinese green gas, the olfactory additive (Ethanethiol -- the smelliest stuff on Earth, according to Guinness World Records) seems to really cling to stuff it came into contact with: my GBBs chambers now have a permanent propane odor to them, as do the insides of my mags and valves.

MadMax should come up with some scented silicone oil (no, not th sexy kind).

And I still have a can of oldschool Green I used for home shooting. My living space is too small to have it stinking of propane.

At Border War last year, I remember someone from Toronto (US side) mentioning that the smell of propane is better than sex

After a while it seemed I was getting used to the smell or it just was never that bad. Then I smelled the propane out of those propane torches and it seemed so much worse. Duno though

Coleman isn't too bad for me

I see what you did there

Coleman still has that terrible sulfur smell. For outdoor use, it's perfectly fine and dissipates fairly quickly, just don't fire your GBB indoors. Coleman is also readily available (and cheap) at Canadian Tire too, thats a plus.

I prefer either propane torch canisters or the portable stove ones as they are slim and would fit much better with your gear (Much slimmer compared to typical tanks).

i guess i can stop smelling my gun for leaks now...

IMO Ozark Trail propane fuel (2 pkg wall mart) has little to no smell
it looks just like a coleman(stink horrible)
