Extended barrel on sig 552
Hi, I have an upgraded TM sig 552 and I wish to install a longer barrel. Whats the longest barrel that I can install without getting suck back on the sig 552 cylinder? Also whats the best way to conceal a barrel under a suppressor, getting a barrel closest to the length of the suppressor, or getting a longer barrel and cutting it down to size? Also how much work would be involved in cutting down a barrel, would it just need to be cut to size and sanded smooth with a dremmel? Thanks in advance

the barrel is pretty much as long as it can get stock. depending on the length of the silencer, you use a proportionately longer barrel.
as for concealing suppressors, id go with the closest length, but no shorter than 1" from the silencer's edge. Or, if your really creative, ive been trying to figure out how to make my sig 552 into a 550 by enlarging the outer barrel and the forgrip. |

Match the cylinder to the barrel length.
So if you had an AK47 length barrel, get an AK47 cylinder, ect. M4 length barrel, get an M4 cylinder. That's all you have to worry about, the rest of your components will work no problems at all. BTW I used to have a Sig 552 and I've done the mods your wanting to do. Last edited by BC_K; June 2nd, 2008 at 13:51.. |

awesome, what barrel length/silencer did you end up using? and did you notice a significant boost in power when you lengthened the barrel?

Minimal increase, maybe 10-15 or so fps?
I've installed an M4 length barrel and I only set the gun up for mid range shooting. Depending on the barrel you use your FPS will vary, a stock barrel wont show much, as opposed to a tightbore barrel, which diamater is smaller then the 6.08mm stock barrels. Seen them available right to 6.01mm's, but I prefer 6.03mm. |

ok cool, I have a 6.03 barrel in it right now and its shooting around 350 fps, I was hoping that a longer barrel would increase the fps by a decent amount just because the barrel is so short stock.
