Need help.... not sure what i broke
I was installing a systema mecha box, and everything seemed to be going well until i was about to put everything back together, now bear with me this is my first airsoft gun and obviously my first mod... but i tipped the barrel up and out came the inner brass barrel with the hop up attached, when they hit the floor one of the plastic hop up gears broke off...
here is a picture of the broken gear and the model of my airsoft gun, hopefully someone can give me some advice on what parts i need and where to order it from thanks in advance |

Same thing happened to me with my JG.
You still can play with your AEG. http://www.wargameclub.com/pcart/sho...23_cat_Guarder

You broke the upper half of your hopup unit. Funny...(funny to me, not to you, sorry)...I guy brought me his rifle with the exact same break, as in identical break shape. Sorry, he took my last spare upper hopup.
Any stock TM hopup unit will work. Be sure it comes with the gears and springs...the piece that broke off of yours has one of the 3 gears that are needed. You could use it as is...might get a horrible air seal problem, might be a pain to set and keep your hopup setting, but it might work. Make sure the part that broke off isn't floating around in your rifle somewhere. |

Thanks for all the quick replies, glad to know I'm not the first one to have it happen to. So any tm compatible hopup should work then? Would this be the best time to get a tightbore barrel as well? Also can anyone recommend a speedy site to order from? Is it true they confiscate all airsoft products @ the border
Thanks again |

Airsoftparts.ca doesn't have one listed, but Jugglez might have one kicking around. Otherwise post to the classifieds.
No, they do not confiscate all airsoft products at the boarder...just the restricted items...FAQ |

Thanks for your help, read the faq and everyting is much clearer.. What would you guys recommend for a high quality hopup for this tm rifle? Is this fairly easy to replace also?

plain old stock TM upper hopup will sort you out. You could replace the hopup rubber at the same time...but not entirely necessary (I have spares on hand because I always seem to tear it taking them out..LOL).
From a complete hopup. - back off the hopup completely (so that it is off). You can check that the hopup nub is not protruding down into the chamber by looking in the back end. - pull the barrel out, the hopup rubber may or may not come out with it - pull out the hopup rubber, careful not to lose the nub. If the hopup you have comes with all the gears and springs installed, just put the nub in place (a small probe or even a toothpick helps to get it in the right spot...it goes perpendicular to the bore, laying flat in the cutout), the rubber over the barrel (there's an alignment slot in the barrel), and reinsert it into the hopup. A little pure silicone oil helps slip it in. Secure the barrel with the barrel clip (half moon clip that is missing in your picture). |

This is a very common break for M4 users for years.
I have one more Systema One-Piece metal hop up unit left in stock if you're interested. Some slight mods are required to install it and you lose the quick-takedown feature of your gun, but: a) you don't need quick takedown - there's no need to have it for a standard Marui M4 b) the one-piece hop up system provides a MUCH better air seal |

I just fixed this problem a few weeks ago, I'm not sure if you did the same thing but if you put too big of a spring in a TM (or TM clone) gun, the mechbox WILL break. Now the mechbox is obviously mounted right behind the hopup chamber, so when the front of the mechbox shell breaks, the broken part of the shell is now pushing directly on the main gear of the hopup chamber.
So did your old mechbox break? Because that would definitely explain the broken chamber |
