Spring change can a new airsofter do it easily?
I'm new to airsoft and I'm getting a JG HK416 it's 400+FPS is way too hot for any field I plan to play on so I'm going to need to change the spring so two questions. First, what spring should I use? Second, Is a spring change something you can do never having worked on an AEG before. I've thought about trying it out on the cyma MP5 I bought about a year ago and hardly use(never been able to get a full mag to fire without some sort of malfunction with the gun although mostly they are loading issues so I think it might just need some new mags as the gun itself unbelievably runs fine and is amazingly sturdy for the $45 US I paid for it). Any advice, suggestions, inquisitions, beatings are welcome. *braces for getting railed for being a stupid American as in every other one of my threads (way more of us are deserving of it than I like to admit)*

I thought the JG 416 shot 370fps stock?
Anyways, get a Modify 100 spring from Jugglez, about $15 or so, and get a set of metal bushings to replace the stock nylon ones. |

The 416 is advertised to shoot 370. Out of the box, it will consistently shoot over 400. I had a couple of my first shots clock at over 450 fps.
However, with use, the spring does settle. Once you've had a couple of hundred rounds through it, it will settle to under 400 fps, with most settling around the advertised 370. Sepulcrum's 416 settled to about 375 fps. After about 1000 rounds, mine now shoots consistently in the 385-390 range. The only modifications to my gun are metal bushings and a Modify anti-reversal latch.

Most chinese companies state on their box "370fps" or "380 on .12g BB!" or some crap like that, when in reality, it's doing 380 on .25s or they're just plain bullshitting you and its way higher.
Essentially what they do is make up for how bad their internals really are by putting a spring that way to big in to make up for the lack of compression of the rest of their crappy parts. As it turns out it doesnt seal as bad as they thought. I took my friends 380 JG spring out and put it in another gun and it shot about 420fps on .2s. Anyway they do this to attract noobs who think FPS is all that matters. So what I'm saying is don't ever trust what it says on the box What you can do is rapidly hit your trigger until the piston is seated at its most far back position and wear down the spring till it's under 400. OR you could change the spring altogether, it's not difficult on a V2 mechbox/armalite. www.mechbox.com look for an M4 video, the 416 is pretty much the same thing. |

the site im ordering my gun from will change the spring, reshim, relube and put in metal bushings for $50 ( probably less if I get them to do it before delivery as that price includes return shipping) good deal? Something I should do rather than trying to do it myself?

yes, if they offer to do it for you for a fee, look into it. its not worth having your aeg crap out because you didnt put it back together correctly.
just a question, do you live in the states? fill out your profile a bit. |
