upgrade help needed
Hi everyone.
I've got a stock marui P226 and just ordered some upgrades for it, including a metal slide and lower frame. Now, looking at just the diagram that came with the gun, installing the slide looks pretty easy, although I never went further than the barrel. My concern is the lower frame, looking at the parts it contains looks more complicated than a 2000 pieces puzzle, but anyone seems to have done it without any problems. Now, either all you guys are long time weapons engineers, or it seems to me harder than it really is. If I can find some manual, instructions, needed tools or anything on how to do this (replace the slide and frame) could you please tell me where? This is my first GBB and I already know I'm going to do something wrong or drop a spring to the never-to-be-found-again kingdom. Thanks Ermal. |

If you are unsure of doing it your self, send it to a local guru, they would be happy to do it for you, otherwise, search the internet for a video that explains it.

Tried finding a pictural guide the other day while I was disassembling my SIG, but couldn't. In the end, it wasn't all that complicated. Keep the manual handy, make sure your work space is clean and go at it.
Filling in your location would help you. There could be someone who's done it near you.

Thanks for the reassuring words. Can you tell me what tools to have handy before beginning?
Allen keys, small screwdrivers, special tools, pliers etc. etc. Thanks a lot. |

I had Allen keys, a few Phillips, a needle nose plier and a wrench. The wrench I mainly used as a hammer (due to lack of a real one) to knock pins out.

My tools are a set of allen wrenches, then assorted phillups and flat head screw drivers, depending on your gun you might also want a set of torque wrenches, those are the ones that look like a star.

Hi. Uh, not sure if this is helpful at all, since it's all in Norwegian. Well, there's pictures at least.

Gen. Hospital you are a life saver. Thanks man. Being in Norwegian is a little tricky, but pictures are so much better than words. At least now I know what to expect. I think this post should really be translated and put for public viewing.
Thanks a million. P.S. I'm checking an online translator now. Norwegian looks too complicated. I'm going to translate at least words like, spring, tension and warning. |

Not too sure how the author of that guide would feel if I just ripped it off and translated it.

Well, he has done a favor to P226 owners by sharing his experience anyway. It would just be great to understand some of the words as well. I'm sure hidden there are some very useful tips which might avoid probable headaches.
And now, just for your own entertainment: Norwegian. Nå kan du trekke opp hammer huset. Som du ser er skruen på høyre side fjernet. Den behøver bare å fjernes dersom du skal demontere huset. Det gjøres ikke i denne guiden og er heller ikke nødvendig for denne oppgraderingen. Online translation in english. Now able you draw out is not hammering cottage. As you discern am screw at right agedown blanked. It needing only to away if you do be about demolish cottage. Facts do by no means this the guide and am nor imperative of this the upgrading. That is one tough paragraph and believe me is one of the most understandable. I'm sure a lot of newbies, like myself, will squeeze their language skills over this. :banghead: Anyway, thanks again man. Being able to see this through is very very helpful. Thanks. |

This may seem a little obvious
To prevent yourself from losing GBB parts, especially any parts that is under tension, i recommend you get a large ziplock bag and when you unscrew or take anything apart that have springs / or many parts you do it inside the bag. I made this mistake once where my hammer spring was under slight tension and bounced away from me. I spent hrs looking for it. Once you know what to expect this probably won't be necessary. |

unbrakonøkkel = hex key
fjør = spring This is all taken from Montere metall sleide og ramme på p226 2. Warns you to be careful when taking off the grip, as the right side triggerbar spring easily get lost, and also the decocker. 8. Now you can remover the hammer unit. As you can see the screw on the right side is removed. This will only have to be removed if you are disassembling the unit. That will not be done in this guide, and is not necessary for this upgrade. 12. This warns you that the trigger unit is pretty tight-fitting in the frame, so pry it out carefully with a small flat head screwdriver. Also the little spring on the left side is completely loose. 16. The trigger unit may need some filing to fit. If the plastic lever doesn't turn easily, you'll have to lift the trigger unit slightly at the rear. 20. The decocker is a lot easier to fit if the hammer is cocked. I think that covers about all that you can't easily tell from the pictures. Do note that I haven't done this myself. I just stumbled over that page when trying to decide what GBB to get for myself. I thought this all seemed like a lot of work, and just got a KJW p226 full metal instead. Had I known how fast that would wear, though... Last edited by Gen. Hospital; April 14th, 2008 at 14:33.. Reason: English not first language |

DISASSEMBLE EVERYTHING IN A LARGE ZIP LOCK BAG!!
That way if things go flying, they wont get lost. |

Depending on the brand of the kit you're getting, you may have to get in to fitment, which requires files ranging in grade from coarse to very fine to finish off and polish rails.
Some kits are more or less direct "drop-in" replacements, but some of the nicer kits out there require precise fitment. Either way, I don't fully recommend such upgrades for total GBB noobies, unless you are a very mechanically inclined person. |
