My new CIRAS and various loadouts (pics)
So i just bought myself a phantom CIRAS replica (land in Kakhi) I was worried that the color would'nt match the BDU's that i wear, mainly Woodland, ACU, CADPAT, OD. So far it seems to work pretty well, it seems that the Phantom 'kakhi" has somwhat of a "greenish" hue, not sure how this compares to the real EAGLE versions. I have never owned this type vest, but after trying this on I love it!! (I want a maritime version now).
I like how snug it feels around the torso, and the versatility the molle system give you. The vest itself is a Medium but it was a bitt loose, I had to look up the eagle maunual on how to adjust the lignth of the straps and stuff but, after some tweaking it's seems much better. I love this freaki'n thing! I give it a 2 thumbs way up, for looks, feel, quality, and function. Question: how does the Phantom compare to the EAGLE ones? Stupid question but, would it be asenign to try and put real plates in it and wear it when I go on tour to Afghanistan? I heard that the real deal is made with 1000 thead count cordura as opoesed to the phantom being made with only 600, is that true? and forvive me if this question has been asked before; how do you use the "pull cord" to release the vest? My CRIAS loadouts: SEALS/PMC My other setups: Canadian issue: SWAT:

You might want to loose the C.F. combat scarf for the seal loadout

Well, the Pantac/Phantom CIRAS's are great for airsoft needs and will handle any punishment we throw at it, however I doubt it'd stand up to the much more vigorous duty of military action. While materials might be similar, the construction of the two are farther apart, and really too many details to go over to isolate what really makes the EAGLE different from the Pantac aside from just saying "EAGLE was designed to handle that military action, and Pantac was designed for people who play a tough game a few days a month rather than every day."
The "Ripcord" is located under the neck on the maritime version, and at the waist ((inside behind the armour plate)) on the land version. Looks like you have the land version. You probably would REALLY not want to wear this while on duty, for a few reasons: 1. Pantac/Phantom did not design the CIRAS with actual military purposes in mind. 2. If should happen a round manages to penetrate or miss the plate, your medic will want to get this off you. If he/she doesn't know about the rip cord, he/she will try to cut the vest from you. These vests have a thick aircraft cable coated in plastic to hold it together, not very many combat knives cut through that stuff :P. So the extra 30 seconds it takes them to pull the entire thing off you, could either let you die, or get them caught in fire zones. 3. Am pretty sure that CF do not permit personal gear while on duty for not only the above listed reason(s), but also to ensure that you have proper armour and not something that you found on Ebay.

So you can see how it really depends on who's who in the zoo at the time. Rockafella, perhaps consider pixeling out the letters on your nametag in your issue gear pics, never know who's on the site. Last edited by Kokanee; December 17th, 2007 at 21:34.. Reason: gah... Pig latin spelling |

Sweet, that means I might be able to use some of my Eagle stuff then Kokanee.
Still, I wouldn't go with a CIRAS because of the cable and people not being able to get into it. Not so much because of being able to save my dumb ass for getting shot, but the stopping them to stay in the line of fire to help me.
