An SVD isn't really an AK
It's a different receiver, different stock, grip, mags and barrel.
You could however, convert it to an RPK which is a long AK.
As far as I know, the Guarder kit doesn't make it look much like an SVD

Yep, looks nothing like an SVD. The entire "gun" is wrong, i.e the receiver, bolt carrier, selector switch, top cover, magazine, trigger guard, trigger, gas port, etc, etc, etc.

Chinese company PJ (the one that also produces M249) launched the production of SVD springers. It should be a copy of famous SVD from ATOZ. The body is made of steel and stocks should be wooden. A friend of mine cooperates with this company and it was him who sent them the SVD to make a copy and start entire production
It should be available around Christmas.. The price should be around 200 EUR..

IMHO, SVD from Guarder is not a SVD at all.. There are many differences that this conversion kit misses..

Wait for PJ... Or get King arms for 500 USD or ATOZ for 1000 USD (or more?).. I'll definitely go for china

Hmm something is wrong with this picture.

Oh and about the springer SVD - its like a Hummer with a handcrank instead of an engine.

Escort gas blowback SVD for the win. (well G&P with Escort internals actually).

Cheers,
Alex

Uh what ancorp and everyone else said. AK does not equal svd no matter what you do to it. Now if you were looking to make a m76 or romak then maybe cuz they are based on elongated kalashnikovs, however dont expect miracles if your trying to convert especially if its ur first time. But if u are interersted in making an m76 from your ak, talk to winterwolf he creates his own version of the zastava wood and long barrel and from the pictures ive seen its damn worth the 250usd + shipping price tag.

Ah fair enough then

About the M76 and Romak. Nope. May look CLOSER to an AK, but the receivers still chamber longer cartridges, thus are longer and wouldn't look right. Neither would those short TM AK hicaps.

Well, IMHO, M76 is still better conversion than SVD from Guarder..
To the magazine - it is possible to prolong the mag well so it can take real steel M76 mags equipped with a TM Shotgun shell.. And few millimeters of the body doesn't make any huge difference...

To the springer SVD - 500 fps is quite interesting... Also the price of chinese SVD (200 EUR for steel and wood!!!) is far lower than GP gas SVD (1000 USD?)

This is an airsoft M76 + modification of magazines

And here's realsteel:

Not true man. the receiver is a little to fat, so what?

The real SVD uses a far longer cartridge, it's receiver is built for it. The overall appearance is not the same as the RPK.

Not merely a little too fat.

\"Not true man\" what? Are you saying everything I listed in my post is incorrect? The receiver is longer and looks significantly different, period.
