Custom made Inner Barrels

Hey, I remember a while-ago reading about custom made inner barrels..

I'm planning on doing a project where I'd need a 690mm or 750mm M14 inner barrel... (The Longer the better)

If anyone could shed some light on this, please do.

Also; Anyone know a retailer that carries barrel extensions? I've looked on Redwolf and WGC... Just not sure if I've looked in the proper place.

Good luck finding a cylinder that can support that much air volume. You may need to find a way to custom extrude a thin-walled cylinder for that as well... and make a custom piston head, cylinder head and air nozzle to support that as well.

well, is there or is there not a place that can make custom barrels, im looking to get a set with riffling groves cut into them.
(dont even sugest tanio koba barrels, not enough twist)
as to not having the tools to make a 6mm riffled barrel, thats BS, there are RS barrels that fire 6mm rounds

Yes, but you won't find them made out of soft brass. Nor will they be easy to integrate with your hop-up chamber.

There are guys who make custom barrels. One I know of a guy who makes them for PTWs and they are $200+ U.S. each and they are smooth bore. Would you spend that for a $300 U.S. gun?

A gun with a 450ish fps spring, and systema FTK kit wont be enough?

I need to put more thought into this before I get it rolling... I'm starting way too many projects at once..

Geez, at those lengths you won't need to shoot anyone with the airsoft gun, you'll just need to reach out and (like a long range knife kill) poke them!!!

Good luck with the project, am looking forward to feedback

#1, i wont need a hop-up if this works.
#2 this isnt for shooting BB, but something else im working on
also, i dont need the barrel to be steel, if this guy you know is willing to make rifling in a normal airsoft 6mm barrel, i'd wouldnt mind blowing 100-200 bones

If that's the case, then it's even MORE important that you have a higher air volume in your cylinder. Systema Expert FTKs (450+fps) come with bore-up cylinder kits. To be honest, I don't know what the upper limit of existing bore-up cylinders are - as far as I know, they're limited to 650mm, but talk to an custom inner barrel manufacturer that's made them specifically for airsoft and see what their experiences are. If you want to go 690+mm, there may be certain physical limitations that many people aren't aware of because hardly anybody's gone to such extreme lengths. Lead the way, ranger.

If it's a rifled barrel shooting a projectile (not a BB), it will be classified as a firearm. Be careful where you take this.

Hrrm... I want to be able to play with this gun, and the limit here is 470 on sniper rifles...

I'll have to ask around...

Anyone ever had the ASCer "Damage" do work for them? Apperently he's able to help me out on this one... And I want to get feedback before I invest my money.. (I'm in first year university.. so I don't have alot of that to spare.)

Does Systema even make FTK's for the M14 (V7)?

And.. Anyone know a place where I can look at barrel extentions? I really don't like the look of silencers..

My apologies, when I said "690+fps", I meant "690+mm".

And no, Systema does not have an M14 FTK yet.

As for barrel extensions, all you need is any outer barrel that takes in a 14mm thread and has a 14mm thread on the other end.

Guarder makes a lot of these. If you gave more direction as to what it was that you wanted, I could point you the right way.

Something like this:

or
http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...STAR-ACC-G3607

Although, I'm not too positive on how that latter one mounts.

lol that wouldnt make it a firearm.
if that was the case, most all crossman (shiver >_<) airrifles would be considered firearms.
the projectiles i plan on using with the barrel is safer then an airsoft BB.
there are many factors that go into labling something a firearm, projectile volocity, energy on impact, and meathod of operation to name a few.

Yes, I'm well aware of muzzle energy and velocity, more than you know. However, tradititonally, smooth-bore guns have been overlooked in many aspects of the law. Add rifling and you take your gun into the realm of regulated firearms (shotguns excepted). Most guys, even experts, who look at it will not care about velocity right off the bat, but will see rifling and go from there. I mean, who's going to make you a rifled barrel? A gunsmith? He has laws he must follow as well that everything to do with the barrel and nothing to do with the gun it goes into. This is where it can get sticky.

Besides, you can't have "safer than airsoft BBs" and still make it fly any distance with any accuracy. Only softer makes it safer and that's just a waste of time. Pellets are softer than BBs, but in order for them to be of any use, they must fly faster and be heavier. So really they are, in fact, more dangerous.

But if you have some magical idea that will revolutionize airsoft, go ahead and build it. Many others have been down that road and it's all talk (nothing has ever been built).

I've seen some one with a barrel extention like what you've descrived, but its fluted... I kinda like the look of that... And.. If it would match the M14's outer barrel well enough.. That'd be preffered.. If not, I'll throw some camo-net over my gun to hide the different outter barrel thicknesses.

http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...el%20for%20AEG

Something like that'd be perfect (if one side is 14mm- female, and the other 14mm- male)... But it says "stop order"... not too sure what that means.
