About a Molly Vest
ok... I am looking for a molly vest, I have an idea but i have never ordered one before and would like to knowa few things before i get the mag pouches and etc...
The rifle i would be using is a G36C, so i have G36 mags... The vest i was looking at is this one... GP-CG-SBAWC-L G&P SPEAR Body Armor I saw it on the WGC website.. that being the vest i need to know what kind of mag pouch would hold a g36 mag, I dont see a g36 mag pouch so i was wondering if an m16 or an m14 would fit it? if not what would? the mag pouch i was look at is this... GP-CG-278 G&P M14 & SR25 Magazine Pouch GD-CG-GTAC02WC Guarder MOD M16 Magazine Pouch so... i think thats all for now, umm also maybe if anyone could recomend anything else i might need like a dump pouch or anything. Thanks... |

Molly?
Do you mean MOLLE? *generally*, you're looking for a 5.56mm mag pouch. M4/M16 mags fall in that category. However, not all of them will fit because of those annoying pegs on the G36C mags. They make the mags thicker than M4/M16 mags. If you're not sure, you can be safe by getting a triple mag pouch to carry two clipped G36C magazines. M14 & SR25 magazines are 7.62mm, so they tend to be longer (from back to front), yet shorter (from top to bottom) than G36C mags.

actually there are quite a few options when it comes to clips nowadays...the original was the strap attached to the pouch that snaped at the bottom. many companies now use MALICE clips from tactical tailor with only PALS on the pouch itself. i think its blackhawk that now has those funky looking speedclips...the theory sounds cool but it also doesnt look as if it would have good pouch retention.

For technical purposes you should distinguish between what is a vest and what is in your first post, an armor carrier.
If you want something just really light, there are a few models of 'assault vests' with only PALs webbing on it, and nothing else, allowing you to add whatever pouches you want. However, if you want body armor, I recomend a Phantom CIRAS, the Spear vest you linked is good too, but more than I would be willing to pay for a mediocore replica. The Phantom Ciras is a very good quality replica, and from 1137 tactical it is essentially 230 for all you need to game pouches wise, though G36 mags would require you to replace the mag pouches on the vest. However if you want realism, it is another issue altogether, and I can adress if that is your goal. |
