Purhcased the Aimpoint at 1337tactical.com, typical knock off also made by companies like G&P and King Arms, all metal build, all the same thing. Retail for just over $100.00 mount included. When I have time later I will take a top down picture for you.

Any comments on the STAR AN/PEQ?

The Star An/PEQ is extremely detailed and features full Insight Technology trademarks all across. The one reason why I purchased the Star unit is because it had the correctly colored blue safety switch AND a visible laser module which is activiated by turing the head counter clockwise. The well built unit is faster to mount than the included VFC one because it uses a large thumb screw like the real one does. Inside you can hold up to a 9.6 3300 mAh battery to give you lots of juice.
Once I get the handguard off it gets even more detailed, right down to a fully strippable gas piston assembly like the real HK416.
