Irene 4 vid. 30mins - just combat
Hello gents.
Sorry I forgot to post this a month ago here when I got the ok to post our footage from Irene 4. Better late then never, yes? Helmet cam footage from the support gunner's (me) perspective of Delta's detached "Rapid Response Force", Strikers. Hope you enjoy, comments welcome. http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...48180136599522 Some of this footage will be in the official DVD release. Apologies for the lateness of the post.

I started on my CA M249 MkII skirting right at the event fps limit: 400fps - give or take... My problem turned out that by midday I'd burned out my motor (from bad wiring on my part) and so I switched to a backup Para M249 shooting about 350fps (that actually performed better, except for some feeding issues) so you may notice in the later footage I'm on a "shortbarrel". There was rain late in the day on Saturday so I didn't capture footage of that (stowed the camera) and I didn't film any of the night action since my camera doesn't do low light well. But regardless this footage is in chronological order over the weekend - if with large gaps - so that explains the increasing chaotic state of the town toward the end of the video.
The gunshots (blanks) and explosions were indeed something. What I didn't get on tape much were the rpg's being fired, car fires, down'd helo, and more. There were technicals driving around with MG mounts on top firing blanks (I captured some vid of them - we traded abit of fire with one at edge of town - but not in this editted footage I posted online). The entire facility is under the watch of controllers via hidden cameras and a control tower embedded in a faux water-tower (this is an actual Army training MOUT site at Ft Knox) and they have complete control over a wide range of pyrotechnics. They are skilled at and clearly enjoy setting them off in such a way to add greatly to your confusion... which is great! The company (Best Of USA Marketing) that puts on the Irene events releases a DVD of the action each year. It usually goes on sale late winter (so look in the Feb/March timeframe). They collect and integrate into the professionally shot footage film drawn from players' helmet cams. For more info go to www.oplionclaws.com

I was reading through the rules on the main site, how do the medic rules work there?
they also have nerf rocket weapons?!? |

Medics are issued arm band bandages.
When you take a hit - you call hit, put on your redrag, and go imobile for a 5 minute bleedout. If a medic gets to you or you are taken (touch+walk "carry") to a medic in time then they apply a bandage to your arm and you are immediately in. If you are hit again (with a bandage on your arm) you are instantly dead and begin walking back to the CP or FOB immediately to respawn. When medics run out of bandages, they were issued only a few, they have to restock at the FOB or CP. There were complex rules on non-medics resupplying their medics from the FOB. The 5min bleed 1st hit - immediately dead 2nd hit confused some. But otherwise it was a good setup. EDIT: "Nerf" rockets (say those launched from M203 launchers) were the only way to take the APCs out of the action. Each 12 man squad was only allowed one support gunner and one heavy weapons man (grenade launcher, et al)

You also have to be an American citizen or hold a green card to be allowed access onto any military base. Then on top of that its 200$US to play.
I already tried. It would be an awesome event!! |

We should do a Canadian one...find some beat up ghost town somewhere in the boonies. Charge $50 a head to bribe the local council to let us use it...
(semi serious idea btw, so don't bitch and moan about using non-sanctioned land etc, i'm not a noob) |
