Operation Irene 3 video
Take a look at Black Eagle's new video from Operation Irene 3. This took place in the Zussman MOUT training facility at Fort Knox Kentucky, USA. We had 300+ players and our CO was Colonel McKnight of "Black Hawk Down" fame. This game was in honor to the fallen soldiers from the 1993 Somalia conflict.

That was EPIC. I think the RPGs and burned out car and helo hulks did it all, the smoke rising to the air, definite atmosphere effect.

It was held at the Us Army MOUT facility in Kentucky, called Zussman Village. This puts even Sir Toby's field to shame!

It was incredible. The weekend flew by and by the end of it I felt like I had been in Somalia for 2 days. The folks at Zussman train rangers, delta, seals (they were still cleaning up from a week of SEAL training when we arrived Friday). They have so much more than what is on the video also, at the embassy a guy driving a car at speed rammed another car and it exploded HUGE. You might not be able to see it on the low-res but there were missiles flying through the air and blowing up the sides of buildings, we had to make friends with the indiginous people and help them hold elections, a religious ceremony, etc. We had a night op where we had to capture the other teams CO (neither side won) but the bombs that were going off rocked the buildings, flares, fires burned, etc. The whole time there were probably 5-10 vehicles just driving through the city going about their business. A couple were commandeered. One of the Jeeps had its radiator shot out. Just amazing event. I think the organizers are going to make a DVD of it.
This was the first time airsoft had been allowed at Zussman and it sounded like we didnt cause too many problems (between 5+ heat casualties that had to be taken to the base hospital - they didnt like that) so hopefully we will be back there next year. THX |

This footage was shot with a helmet cam from http://www.helmetcamera.com/ . I used a goggle strap mount and then additionally tip tied it through a cut up paintball mask for added stability. Just the goggle mount was too bouncy. I had my "recording" camcorder in a Blackhawk enhanced buttpack lined with foam. A LANC remote that starts and stops the camera and recording was velcrod under one of my pistol mag pouches flaps to hide the light and protect it. The camera comes with a pretty decent mic for its size that all the sound was capture from that I just clipped to the zipties holding the camera to the mask.
