Longer Inner Barrel and Silencer/outer barrel Length
Hi
I have a 284mm barrel, and debating going with a longer barrel (363mm). Since the difference is 79mm, am I correct that I need to add either a 79mm silencer/outer barrel? Will I need to make any modification to the gear box due to this extra length? Thanks |

You don't actually need a longer barrel, just a BETTER one.
Adding 80mm of barrel won't make a noticeable difference, but getting a prometheus 6.03 tightbore in a 284 with a good hop rubber will make a world of difference. |

Have the gun a part right now, and planning on replacing the barrel and hop-up bucking at a minimum.
Just researching if I should replace the Hop-Up Chamber and Hop-up Nub while I am at it. Was just debating a longer barrel, but I think I should just put the money a outer barrel/silencer would cost into gun internals. Last edited by Pointy; September 24th, 2013 at 01:39.. |

Presumably E&C is another ACM-type brand. I would definitely recommend a hop-up rubber upgrade if you are getting sub-par performance.
How does it compare to other guns you've shot? |

The body on the E&C is all metal, which is what I was looking for. My plan was to get a metal body AEG then start upgrading internals. At $350 CDN I would guess the internals are not the best. Some photos of the existing hopup bucking and chamber; |

I just upgraded from a 275mm tight bore to a 363 madbull black python ver 2 in my g&g top tech cqb-s I had only a 5" outer barrel upgraded to a 7.5" vfc reinforced steel with a 190mm suppressor depending on how long your rail is the tip of my outer barrel sits an inch inside my rail so no outer barrel shows only my suppressor and the barrel end less than a half inch inside my suppressor
I notice a huge increase in range and my old barrel was good quality too stainless steel 6.04mm tbb |

For better or worse decided to stay with the same barrel length as stock, just upgrade to a PDI 6.05 and install a PDI Rubber.
Still waiting for them to arrive in the mail... |

Just because its a tightbore does NOT mean its good quality. There are plenty of shitty aftermarket tightbores out there.
The only 6.04 tightbores that I know of that are high quality are the stock ptw barrels. |

I have a G&G CM16 Raider with a stock 357 mm 6.04 inner barrel. I've been told the internals of the G&G are pretty good. Any advice as to brand and of upgraded hop up and inner barrel. Prometheus and Madbull seem to be recommended on other forums as far as an inner barrel goes.

I ended up putting in a Madbull 475 mm inner barrel and a SOCOM suppressor to accommodate it. I'm looking forward to taking it out in the field now. Very easy DIY project

Just make sure you have the right cylinder port to accommodate the longer barrel.
