G&G M4 gears jamming
Hey everyone, I currently switched V2 gear boxes (both are from the exact same G&G model gun) and when I put the whole thing back together and went to pull the trigger. The air nozzle would go back slightly and then nothing. I pull the trigger and all that will happen is the motor will try to turn the gears but they won't budge. I just get this clicking sound coming from the gears from the motor trying to move them. I've tried re shimming the gears and every time I do a test to make sure the gears rotate by using my finger to roll the gears there fine. But as soon as I put everything else back in with it the gun just freezes up after one pull of the trigger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are many details you are leaving out.
What size (cell type)/mAh/voltage of battery? What strength spring? Did you test the gears spinning with the mechbox screwed down?

My bad, it's a 9.6V 1500 mAh mini battery, M120 spring and I did test the gears with the box screwed down. I've put my gun together dozens of times and never had this problem before. |

Motor is connected at the grip properly? Polarity wise?

If you assemble the gearbox minus the spring, can you then manually retract the piston by spinning the gears by hand? It really sounds like the piston is jamming.

the cables inside the pistol grip might be causing the motor to be out of alignment.

Somethin is too tight or the power is either too low from the battery or there is a wiring issue causing the power loss. Or reversed polarity. My vote is for too tight tho (including piston not moving freely)

if the motor was out of alignment, like having a cable on each side of the motor, it should still turn, just sound horrible.
How's the motor height? And how do the brushes look? Sounds like it may very well be a mechbox issue at this point. What I've done in the past is take the mechbox out and try to cycle the piston back aprt ways by hand, use a small flat head to turn the bevel gear. It's hardened so you shouldn't be able to damage it in any way. |

It is looking like a mech box issue. I've got a local gun doc having a look at it here now so hopefully it'll be up and running again soon. Thanks for all the help guys!

Ensure that the sector gear has the correct amount of teeth to match up with the piston. I had this problem and the piston would be scrapping across three extra teeth and would mess everything up.
