First Milsim this spring.
Well this spring Ill be attending my first Milsim (May, gonna try any way)
I'm hoping to attend a smaller one in may as I have signed up for Art of war and Nightfall already. Basically what im asking is what I need to enjoy this game to the fullest. I know everyone says use the "search" feature but on here it barely works if at all just brings up every thread, so ya. Anyways here is what I have. - King Arms M4 & Magpul PTS Masada SV (sameas regular masada without sight and polymer) I wanted 2 primary just in case one broke down during the OP. - KJW Sig Sauer P226 -Tactical vest (M4 pouches, dump, etc) -Bdu's I will order at the end of the week(dont know which camo yet) -ESS Goggles -Boots -around 6-8 Midcaps (PMags work for both my AEG's) - 3 batterys (Nimh) - Have a small generator as well if anything happens (gonna leave in my car incase of battery emergency) -smart charger I know im pretty much set as far as the combat goes but could someone help me out on the kind of stuff I need thats mainly for endurance (canadian tire stuff, pocket knifes, tarps etc) if you see any thing missing from my load out though feel free to comment. Also what is the sleeping like at a Milsim I am the kind of person that needs a few hours at least. like literally im not functional if I cant, am I allowed to return to my car for a few hours rather then sleeping on the floor? INB4 6356036363 Litres of water (Yes I know) Basically an overiew would be nice Last edited by Felonies; April 4th, 2013 at 20:40.. |

Most mil sims frown upon you going to your car. Have a tent or a sleeping bag. Just remember it can be shot if its on the field.
If you have a good team commander they will make sure everyone gets some sleep/food/water. Extra clothes , socks , boots are all good things to have also. |

If you leave your team to go nap for 2 hours you will fail your whole team. you will most likely get 20 mins rotations for sleep at your post on the field in your gear as the enemy could attack at any time.
get good boots since you'll be on your feet all day and kneepads as your knees will take a beating without them. comfortable eye pro, somthing that isnt too tight on your face and doesnt fog up since you will also be in these all day. Hydration, Hydration, and some more Hydration. dont think that your 3l cammel back is going to be enough water for 18hrs bring extra water to fill it up when back at cp or reloading station. |

You will be given time to go to your tent (if you bring one) or to climb in your bivi to sleep.
Brine either an air mattress or a sleeping pad youll be more comfortable then in your car. Bring food (mre's are good for the most part ask the dealer what ones are good. I like chicken fajitas beens n winers and beef stew. Avoid the egg ones lol) Also bring some real food (steak or chicken and bacon n eggs) for the night befor the game and the morning after (bring extra bacon for yer teammates they will love you) Extra pants socks boots undies and t shirts incase you get wet Edit read this too http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=152415

For something like AOW its 30 hours so there is going to be forced rest by your commander. In the past milsims its been stuff like your squad getting assigned to CP security: stationary or patrol. usually during this your squad leader will rotate people for rest, usually 30 mins or so to do whatever you need to: eat, sleep, washroom.
Best way to approach it is with the mindset that you're being deployed far outside the wire. Milsims can be really enjoyable if you prioritize immersion rather than the actual gunfights. |

Also, don't milsims enforce real-cap mags?

I will also be doing my first milsim this summer, and from what experienced milsim players have explained to me, there are 5 important things to keep in mind (most of which people have already mentioned here).
1-water and lots of it, carry some and leave a lot back at the CP. 2-extra clothes, including something for if it rains. 3-don't wear cotton underwear, wear synthetics that wick away moisture (under armour, exofficio, etc.). 4-food, you will need plenty of calories. 5-do not show up out of shape. Obviously there are many more things to consider but those 5 elements should make a difference as to how comfortable you will be during a milsim. I am going to rely on my portaging/canoeing experience for comfort, and I am going to rely on listening and following orders for the military aspects. Can't wait until the milsims start...

Art of War and Nightfall 2 are no hi caps... so you can use mid caps as far as I can tell.

Real cap as in 30 rounds per mag not 60-150 like mids. You can often just short load em but be prepared to prove it
But not all sims will requird realcap mags just an ammo cap useually 300 or 400 for riflemen

Lack of good sustainment kit will take you out of the game before anything else.
Water. Camelback.. Get one, 3 liter. I summer you can drink a liter an hour when you are fighting. Food, I always bring lots, but generally don't eat much, but I am an old guy with a slow metabolism... I,ve seen young guys crash hard because they runout of energy. Portable food is better than stuff that needs prep. But nothing beats a hot meal in the field. Pick up a esbit stove so you can heat water, and buy some freeze dried meals , mountain house is good. Clothing, layers, synthetic , and wool. With a gortex shell Get a ranger blanket And a good 3 day pack to pack it all in. Ideally you want to be able to pick up and go with everything g you need for the weekend in one go.

Its what i do i prefer this kethod because most m4's will lose 4 or 5 bbs that they dont feed due to them fillinv the gap from the top of the mag to the hop up so i load em accordingly so i get my 30 rounds outta each mag so i can keep track of my shots due to the bolt not locking on an aeg when its empty i just keep count so in fire fights i can grab a fresh mag when i get down to the last 8 or 10 rounds so im rdy for a fast change
Wish i could find mags with a long ass follower to feed every last bb but im sure thats been done and they break lol

Best kit list I'd seen was the one from Deadfall 2009 prepared by Brian, he covered off most of the stuff on his post above but I've always used this one as a base for my planning, at the very least, it let me go back to the thread and relive fond memories.
NB: Nearly every soldier I know swears by the bivvy bag and I admit I wouldn't go out without one. Shelter , load carry 1. 3 day pack 2. Sleeping bag or ranger blanket 3. Shelter half / Bivy bag 4. bungie cords 5. Stove (Scott: I love my JetBoil for instant coffee but whatever) 6. Mess kit 7.Flashlight 8.Glowsticks 9.1 roll TP Food: 1. large meals IMP or canned foods 2.Snacks , energy bars 3. 6 liters water Clothes: 1. extra pants and shirt 2.2 pairs extra socks 3. fleece 4.Shell 5.Gloves , 2 pair, one light one warm 6. watch cap 7. Scarf 8. extra boots 9. rain gear , gortex Gear: 1. smock- coat with lots of pockets for running light no gear 2. 1st line- belt for secondary, utility pouches. , for running with minimal gear 3. 2nd line - Full assault loadout for protracted fighting 4. 2 extra batteries 5. unjamming rod 6. multi tool 7. tools weapons 1. AEG, + spare weapon 2.Pistol 3. SIMKnife 4.Grenades (tornados and bb shower only no pyro)
