CA m24 basic upgrades list
I was having trouble finding up to date recent info so I figured I'd ask here. Im planning on grabbing a CA m24 military version from one of the AV retailers in the near future. Does anyone have a basic upgrade parts list? I want to keep the gun shooting around 450 with minimal upgrdes. I know the basics are a new piston and piston head, spring guide, hop up, spring and inner barrel, so far as what to pick I have no idea
Thanks |

At the bare minimum. All you really need is a ball bearing spring guide, PDI hopup unit, a new hopup rubber/bucking and tightbore barrel. Current production M24's are rated for 400 - 450 out of the box, but the stock barrel parts are less than ideal.
You could probably do just that to start out with, and save up for a PDI complete cylinder set, and you'd be good right after that. CA M24's are beasts durability wise. They won't come close to a VSRs accuracy but they sure as hell will outlive them. |

most of the CA m24's I've seen for sale are rated at 380ish fps on the websites?
I was leaning towards the m24 because of its external cosmetic appeal and weight/feel. The only other bar I've seen with similar external attributes was the echo 1 m28 but I feel like either people have said they are pleased with it's performance stock or that upgrading it was difficult due to lack of compatible upgrade parts. I kind of wanted to grab something that needed minimal upgrades to get it to shoot far and consistently accurate. |

I've run 2 classic army m24's in the past couple of years and i've always been satisfied with them. They are capable of reaching up to 250 - 300 feet on a torso target on light upgrading and proper aiming.
The m24 will do you well. And even at 380FPS (Which I ran my first m24 at) will be more than sufficient. The PDI hop chamber with proper compression, and the tightbore barrel will bring you over the 400 FPS mark. |

Is the spring compatible with AEG springs (like its inner barrel and the Hop-up rubber)? 400 - 450 out of the box plus the fps increase from tightbore barrel is way too much for my local field rules...

No, the CA M24 runs off of APS 2 parts. You can easily downgrade.

Bear in mind that its not 100% APS-2 compatible. Cylinder length is different as well as the hop up unit itself.
Search for PDI, they have CA M24 specific upgrades. Do not mix-match parts! |

So as far as parts go...
PDI Hop up chamber http://www.x-fire.org/m24/e.m24_chamber.html PDI 515mm 6.01mm tightbore barrel Which one would you suggest getting? The hard or the VC? http://www.x-fire.org/m24/e.m24_p.cylinderset_hd.html http://www.x-fire.org/m24/e.m24_p.cylinderset_vc.html Which hop up bucking would you suggest is best? And do I need anything else? Barrel spacers? |

About the inner barrel; is there a specific model made by PDI for the Classic Army M24?

Any 510mm AEG barrel will work. I used a prommy m16 length tightbore. 6.03 is ideal.

I've been hearing that the trigger unit is pretty good. I'm doing a little upgrading on the M24 (Classic Army) my buddy purchased, he really wants to hit around 500 FPS, any experience with such a setting, will the trigger unit need to be replaced immediately (he's not a trigger happy type, will maybe fire 20-30 bb's in a day, and will use it approximately 6-8 times a year)?
So far I'm getting the PDI Cylinder set (comes with spring guide and that stuff) + PDI Hop-Up unit + PDI 6.01mm 515 M24 inner barrel.. |

My CA M24 was 460-490 fps stock...
If I do the air sealing and tightbore before cutting down the spring, it wound probably go above 500 fps easily...

There are people saying "you have to get 6.01 for sniper rifle..." but there are also people saying it don't have to be super tight if it is smooth enough... What is your thoughts in this subject?

I'll chime in here since this is my area........... the stock CA m24 trigger assembly is awesome! Remove the safety and the attached pin, gives a smoother trigger pull, adjust the screw to set the amount of creep and you are good to go. It's fully made of good solid steel, only downside is the useless safety and the fact every screw needs to have a Loc-Tite treatment, but more importantly, the sear and sear block are quality steel as well. I ran mine for years at around 500fps, and for one game day had it shooting at 585fps w/.20g. Best it's ever shot, the configuration I stuck with the few last years I played, I was shooting around 397fps w/.20g, and my only load was 0.36g BBs, great range, excellent consistancy, something I never got with the higher velocities (trust me, anything over 430fps nets you little more than increased chances of flyers within the first 120ft or so of flight due to the increased spin rate the hop up puts on the BB, making it more sensitive to air currents.)
I went a few years with the stock CA hop up unit, changed to a PDI one, really no difference in performance, the PDI one was trickier to dial in due to two paddles instead of one. Tightbore, I've never used a 6.01, only my Prometheus 6.03mm, but many have said the tightest to both going with is the 6.03, as the 6.01 starts causing issues due to the smaller tolerance and BB stability is affected as it travels down the barrel. |
