Stripping paint on an ICS m4a1
i need to strip some paint on my ics m4a1 and i was wondering if anyone has come across a good way of doing so.
the area i need to strip is the thread where the barrel lock holds the barrel tight to the body of the m4...its an area where i dont want to mess around with too much with chemicals that might break down the grease or get into the gears/parts/whatnot...

when you are stripping paint off parts, it's always a good idea to disassemble the aeg, then just take the particular parts you need to work with and start on them - trying to strip paint off your assembled m4 isnt a hot idea at all.
once you have your m4 in pieces, i prefer to use the "paint and grafitti (sp?)" spray can that can be found at crappy tire. works great. |

Since he's doing the delta ring/chamber block area, sandpaper will give some unwanted sharp edges that could make screwing the thing back on pretty hard.

I find a little 320 grit automotive and up wet sanding paper works quite well, it doesn't damage the metal at all, after roughing the surface up I use brake cleaner to remove the paint.

i dont wanna be using sandpaper at all,no matter hi grit since im trying to strip paint off of the threading, sanding it would deform the thread, causing problems installing the R.A.S. (which is what im installing) unto the body of the m4.so i think il be using nail polish or paint thinner on a swab to remove the paint...
