how many mags do YOU carry?
(i tried searching for this thread, before posting, but could not find anything)
skirmishes = milsim / 24 milsim = I run m4 120rd mid caps I like to consider myself pretty conservative with my ammo. I usually run with 4 mags during skirmishes, and alot of times end up only using 1 or 2 mags during that skirmish. But milsims Im not sure... Do you over prepare and take on the extra weight? Im asking because I added more mag pouches to my loadout for a total of 9 mags but I really dont like the extra weight at all...

I used to carry 13 x 68round TM locaps in a chestrig
Now I carry 5x 120round PTS PMags via a belt rig and prefer this much better. It's less ammo overall but it's significantly less weight. If you're really concerned about weight vs. ammo, I would carry a hicap stuffed to the brim as a last-ditch mag and put that in a GP or utility pouch. You can add some dynamat or foam on the insides to cut down on rattling. Ammo and load bearing preference really boils down to the scenario, field, and style of play of each player. |

Skirmish = 6 midcaps (PTS PMAG's) in 3 double fastmag pouches + 1 hicap overstuffed so it won't rattle in a nylon mag pouch as a "last resort"
Milsim - as many as can carry |

I run 7 120rds PMAG/EMAG mids last me two to three skirmish matches before I gotta refill.
For Milsims I am planning on running the same thing (most of my team uses stanag/m4 compatiable weapons so we can share ammo)-or max ammo limits. Soon I am moving into GBBR with 10x 30rd mags. |

Enough for what I'm doing..
Assault = more Recce = less run realcaps only.

I use the same rig no matter what I'm playing.
Right now it has 8x120rd M4 mags and 4x40rd 1x20rd (in the gun) MP7, and if its going to be a long game I have a backpack full of other M4x120rd mags. I am hoping to make 2 rigs soon, one a full out vest that holds an ass ton of mags, and one chest plate that holds like 8. |

For me it depends on what I'm using. For AEGs (mostly ARs), I tend to carry 8 spare 68-round low caps + 1 in the gun. I have a couple of 120 round mags that I may occasionally use depending on the nature of the game.
But really, it depends on my role and the gun I'm carrying. FOr a long milsim, I can easily be carrying 16+ low caps.

Skirmish: ~600
Milsim: Depends on ammo restrictions. Most are 200-300 or so, giving me 3 mags.

4+1 SIG 552 Lowcaps
12+1 shotgun shells 6 1911 .45 magazines 2+1 Beretta 92 Magazines 4+1 PPSh Drums Not all at once, obviously. I'm considering ditching spare mags for a sidearm completely when I'm using the PPSh, since the drums are so damn bulky on the rig already. Sidearms are a must for the shotgun, though. I use my sidearm more than my long guns, so I usually carry more 1911 mags than anything else. I'm a big fan of using my pistol instead of reloading, so I don't often need to carry that much primary ammo.

depends on how long an operation is.
generally i run with 5 PTS mid caps on my rig, with another 5 in my pack in case things get drawn out and i need to do a resupply. been on 24+ hour ops where i never needed to go into my pack, so if im running low on my rig, then im shooting too much. it's just good to have that backup, and i can let a team mate grab them out of my pack if they need them.
