Ares G36C External Modifications
Hey guys. I've just recently picked up an Ares g36c ebbr. I have been shopping around for a "K" ras/ris for my gun. There are several versions of the rail system available all across the internet and I'm having some trouble deciding which one to go with. Basically I'm posting this to ask the question: Which company sells the best fit for my gun? (Ares g36c ebbr) AND if modifications are required, what kind of work I've got cut out for me.
Notes: I've done internet research and to be honest there isn't a whole lot on the subject of the ares models. Sorry if the post comes off a little wonky. I'm new to asc. Thanks in advance. -Robert |

Are you looking for RIS handguards from a "k" because those are too long for sure. I have an ares "c" and a friend has the "k". If you are looking for the carry handle with scope I can try to put his on my gun to see howwell it fits. If it works I'm sure you can find it straight from ares. As far as exterior they look sexy with a magpul afg but it has to be the short one

Okay, a little info here...
The 'C' in G36C stands for 'Compact', which means that it is the smallest G36 variant currently on the market. The 'K' in G36K stands for 'Kurz' or 'Kommando', and is the carbine variant of the G36. As such, 'K' handguards cannot be swapped with 'C' variants, nor the other way around. Neither will the A-series handguards, or the 'E' and 'EK' handguards.

Unless ARES guns use proprietary front ends, all G36 handguards are interchangeable. A longer handguard will require a longer outer barrel, and gas tube assembly if you want it to be authentic. You can get full conversion kits:

very little moding is needed for any g36 externals if any at all, buy anything of good quality, cnced are always nicest but also most expensive. I believe only the lower end brands need moding.
and for others the models are g36c g36 g36k ,g36kv g36e and mg36..... did I miss any?

As far as the airsoft versions are concerned, all the parts are swappable between all versions, except for the stock/receiver on the SL8/SL9.

I'm pretty sure that the only thing 'swappable', effectively, between the SL8 and the G36 are the magazines.

Actually, the only thing proprietary to the SL8/9 is the receiver and stock. Everything else is swappable.
(actually, the ARES magwell is proprietary because the pin size is different, thought it technically "fits" other G36 bodies).

You'll also need a 'k' outer barrel, gas tube assembly, and inner barrel. (Strictly speaking you don't actually require the last 2).
Something like this: http://www.evike.com/product_info.ph...ducts_id=25192

Should fit without issue (as long as you also get the conversion parts). If you need to modify anything (the alignment slot is too small for the pin on the gun) just make sure you enlarge the handguard - it looks like it is plastic and with a little work should be easy to open up. Besides it is a lot easier to work on something on the bench than risk screwing up the body of the gun. The same company makes the shorter c version as well (sorry but I'm not sure how to post links). Good luck and post some pictures when everything is done - I'm curious how it will look! I just swapped the carry handles from the G36K and G36C (both Ares guns) and it is a direct fit, so if anyone is looking for a larger carry handle for the C (with built-in scope) or a shorter railed handle for the K model there is no issue!
