Ak47-mag Compatibility with Ak74U
Recently I acquired 4 AEG metal Mid-cap AK47 style magazines from a friend who's TM AK47 did not survive moving . Since I do not own a AK-style AEG I am considering buying one.
The question I have is quite simple. Do AK47-style magazines fit on a AK74U model aeg. My friends says there shouldn't be a problem but I want to be sure before I place my order. Thanks in advance

Normally yes, you can run ak74 mags on '47 as well! Although some brand's mags won't fit, most of 'em will.

Pretty much all AK AEG's will fit all AK mags, no matter what model the gun or mags are.

Generally they will work but they will not look like the proper magazine for the gun.
Some care, some don't |

I didn't make any aesthetic judgement. I just commented that it is not the proper magazine for that gun. It fits, it functions but for RS it is not the correct pairing of gun and magazine.
AK74's fire a 5.45mm round and the 47 fires the 7.62mm round. Thus they use different magazines. As I stated in my first post, some care, some don't. For many, it is important to maintain as much of a proper look as possible. |

Nothing wrong with using a 7.62 mag in a AKS-74u. Plenty of 3rd party AKS-74us chambered to the 7.62 round, the side folding Yugo M92 comes to mind. It's not suprising considering the AK is a open sourced gun. Look around the internet there are plenty of AK chambered to all sorts of calibres and mix of parts. See Kyber Pass AK for more details.
But purist would cringe at people still calling a AKMSU, AKS-74u or Krinkov a AKS-74u. It's like calling a Mac 11 an uzi. |

Yeah Kingsix is right, just tell people it's Bulgarian and you've got a legitimate 7.62 AKS74u.

Also, S.T.A.L.K.E.R homage.
It's what I do, and I've gotten more compliments than complaints.

At least we still have our very own Strelok.
Edit: Speaking of which, what's the AKS-74U sized gun with a 47 mag properly called? Near as I can figure out, it's an AKM with the stock sawn off. It doesn't seem to be "krinkov" either, since that seems to refer to shorter 74 models.
