Roommate and Gun Safety

I'm at my wits end on this one. I live in a student residence with a couple of other guys, all great. While I'm the only major airsofter in the house, I think at least two or three guys have a CT clearsoft springer and they sometimes shoot with me in a makeshift range we set up in a hallway.

I'm used to firearms and follow precautions religiously. The four rules of gun safety come to mind, as well as a ridiculous adherence to the wearing of eye protection. The other guys generally shoot rarely and do follow the majority of rules. One of the guys doesn't, at all.

I walked out into my hallway and found broken glass. Apparently he was shooting beer bottles with his springer, and while some furniture was being stored in the hallway he shot out a picture frame next to a bottle he had placed on a bookcase. A couple of days prior he had shot a roommate running to his car in the packing lot out back. I sometimes will be working in my room when a BB ricochets into my room, nearly hitting me. Turns out he'll decide to shoot using the makeshift range and not tell anyone, or even ask them to close their doors. At one time in the past he fired at anybody who walked past his door.

I've talked to him repeatedly about gun safety. He thinks he's above it because he's the most accurate out of all of us when firing our pistols. I was extremely pissed when he shot the roommate from 20-30 metres in the parking lot- According to him he was aiming for his back, I say if the roommate had turned, stopped, or even slowed then there would be consequences. Shooting someone in a game is one thing- Shooting at me when I'm walking past your door is another.

Any advice on how to deal with this situation? I've already barred him from touching any of my gear or weaponry at all.

Simple, make his gun conveniently non-functional.

Put his gun through a table saw. Then tell him to deal with it becuase his shooting of other people is a worse act than vandalizing a $15 clearsoft pistol.

Hide your gear and tell everyone else to do that same so that he can't find them.

If he comes back with another one, take it and hide it. Or for each time he shoots you with it, have everyone shoot him back with one.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and 100 shots for every shot fired.

Let someone pretend to get shot in the eye by ricochet? Just a small act, maybe his asshole will tighten up a bit.

Personally, I would probably throw his junk out of the window, but since you want to resolve it calmly...

That were my first thoughts, but this can easily turn against them.

Break his toys. He's too immature to play with it.
Replace it with a water gun.

We did have someone get shot in the eye from a ricochet two weeks ago- This is when I noticed bottles were the targets and gave a dressing down to the guys involved- Apologies were made and a push came to get eye protection on everybody- Glasses didn't count anymore. Involved one of the other guys who since then has become extremely safety conscious, not the guy at hand.

Anything rifle length is mounted to a quick release on the wall, but chained to a 200 pound radiator when I'm gone for more than a day - To get the chain loose would destroy the reciever. Magazines are removed and the bolt is pulled out if possible.

Pistols as well as all magazines and bolts are locked up in a locker bolted to a brick wall.

First: Don't call the cops. Nobody likes a rat.

Second: Just show him this thread. If he still thinks he is special. Have him plead his case here and watch the replies he gets. Then he will see: NO ONE IS ABOVE GUN SAFETY.

Tear down everything and just stop shooting in the house altogether. When he sees that you guys aren't playing anymore he might get bored with it and stop.

Some recent incidents, particularly the bbs flying past my door, were when he was shooting solo.

Stop shooting inside.. you have an idiot in your midst.

And yes.. it only takes one idiot to ruin everyone's fun.

If there's no range though, he might stop.... or he might make a new one. You guys should do a house meeting or something, like an intervention and voice your guys' concerns.
