Shipping from China (non gun related)

Hey guys. Quick question I could not find an answer for. I bought a few items from a dealer in china. Just some clothing and a few speed loaders.

Question I have is, When the item gets to me am I am going to have pay something extra? how does border fees and all that work. First time I ever shipped from outside of North America

Thanks!

Depends on the shipping company.

If they use a broker, prepare your lube, you'll need it.

What shipping service?

If it was airmail then it turns into Canada Post. In this case, it may be inspected and they will charge you $8 for that and any GST if it's over a certain amount, and depending on what type of item it is. (only if it's inspected though, which sometimes doesn't happen)
If it was UPS, expect to get raped with brokerage fees.

it was through airsoftpark.com, Only went there because of that 10 dollar discount coupon.

Shipping by Singapore Post Registered Airmail

That was the shipping company... should I be worried? It was a 2 Mags. 2 speed loaders and a Handgun holster

Edit: Tracking number says it has arrived in Canada. When would I be notified if I need to pay anything more?
Edit again: According to Canada post it is in Vancouver and has been released by customs

Singapore Post will hand off to CP. If there is tax and duty they'll collect that before the give you the package.

I've paid like $25 worth of duties, taxes etc. on a calculator from the US before (graphics calculator), however other packages I've received sometimes I don't get charged on.

If it was through Airsoft Park they'll likely declare the packages value as $20 or something and you shouldn't get dinged on anything but if you do it'll be like $10 or something, not much in the grand scheme of things IMO.

USPS should be alright, or a small amount depending on the package's value.

Lube is for DHL, Fedex, UPS, etc, that use third-party brokers.

No need to worry, they ship by china airmail, you won't get dinged on taxes. Usually they put the value less than what u really paid for.

Laughing my ass off over here, good stuff

To add something of my own to this thread, one thing you can do with the lube-inducers is call them with your tracking number and arrange to pre-pay your brokerage and/or duty charges. If they miss delivery and you're at work/school, you can just call them and find out what the damage is in dollars.

Oh, I should also add that it can sometimes be brutal for apparel and clothing when ordering from the US, but sometimes very little. Your mileage may vary.
