Gearfreak shoot - Brakoo and Vince (56k BE GONE)
So, Brakoo's roomoate happens to be a gearfreak of his own, but thankfully for us, he's all about photography while we spend every last hard earned buck on nylon...
Here are the shots with kitlist and brief description. Could've put this into the media section but fuck it, much more suited to the gear section! The true connaisseurs will point a few mistakes on our part, but don't you worry, we are fully aware of that. Brakoo's 1st Recon - Afghanistan '08 (Otherwise stated everything is FSBE issued, * marked are replicas) Headgear - Elctronics MICH TC2000 w/ Norotos* universal and FSBE reversable cover Spe Ops Recon Wrap Peltor Comtac 2 TCI Saber PTT 1st Line EI Warbelt AI leg panel AI Drop leg adapter EI 41 FBs EI Single M4 AI Flashbang Safariland 6004 2nd line Civvie PACA AI MBSS s/m EI single M4 x2 EI frags x2 EI 45 FBs x2 AI Admin AI MAP AI MBITR EI SOF Med pouch Apparel USMC FROG2 (Propper) Camelbak Maxgrip nomex gloves Danner combat boots TAG Riggers belt Blasters MEU(SOC) .45 CQBR w/ EOtech 551 SFM951 Brakoo's Navy SEAL greenside 00's 2nd line LC2 belt LC2 suspender, Ranger modded with Paracord running through belt eyelets 2x LC2 ammo pouch 2x LBT SAW 200rnd pouch 2x LC2 canteen LC2 IFAK 3rd line EI 3day Slick OD w/M79 Apparel WL boonie WL Raid BDU (Propper) Nomex flight gloves Brakoo's Navy SEAL Afghanistan OEF1 2001 2nd line TAG Riflemen kryloned dark brown 3rd line Camelbak Ambush Apparel DCU trousers SPEAR Fleece Pakol Vince 31st MEU FR Platoon VBSS '06 (everything FSBE unless stated otherwise) Headgear MICH TC2000 Norotos 3holes* 1st line BHI duty belt Ferro Concept belt pad CSM dumper SAW Split top as a gas mask carrier AI leg panel AI Flashbangs EI double M4 2nd line PACA (mil issued) RRV EI frags AI Flashbang EI single M4 AI MBITR AI admin Apparel CWU-27 flightsuit Sage Camelbak Maxgrip nomex gloves Recon wrap Vince Navy SEAL ST7 Platoon work-up '07 Headgear MICH TC2000 1st line BHI rigger belt Old School SOE drop leg carrier CSM dumper EI SOF Med pouch 2nd line PACA (mil issued) Heavily modded Spec Ops rig FSBE MBITR (now have a legit LBT MBITR pouch) Various pyros 3rd line Camelbak Viper Apparel WL BDU Garmin 301 Flight gloves Skull bandana Vince SAS Taliban hunter, mountain recce '07 Headgear Operator cap 2nd line Arktis 42CDO chestrig 3rd line BHI 3day pack Apparel SAS Windproof smock DDPM 5.11 Taclite trousers Shemagh Arc'teryx softshell gloves Garmin 301 You'll notice I don't have a sidearm on any of my kits, I used to have a 226 and a MEU but sold both as I'm not a GBB fan after all... Vince, your lack of .45 manliness is disappointing
Brakoo's Universal Norotos is wrong for 2008. And it would be 99.% of the time with an AKA2 arm (for a Universal, but for that year it'd be a 3 hole with PVS14 TATM...) Heh, I had to be picky to hide my jealousy Looking good as always! I found my gear closet (read: my appartement as a whole, actually... but the appartement isn't much bigger than a closet anyway) was pretty full with gear, but... I see some stuff you have I had never heard about. Nice nice! Good quality pics does help a lot.

We have some more kits but we limited ourselves to 3 kits each
As for the 45 I had one and sold it... Fuck maintenance

So much awesome... So much jealousy... How to pick a favourite?
But I really dig that SAS smock!

Holy SHIT you guys have awesome gear. And I thought I had too much. Looks accurate and well researched from what I can tell at least, just needs some more dirt right?! In the first pic, is it me or does that plate carrier seem extra small? Also I've always wanted to ask this of very accurate reenactors; does this stuff work well for YOU? Of course you recreate what you see in use by real units.. But in a tough skirmish or long milsim do you find yourself wishing you were using different gear?
edit: Taliban Hunter is BOSS. Change the 2nd line gear to ranger green and it looks just like the Battlefield 3 trailers. coolio. Last edited by rc_p120; May 21st, 2011 at 01:59.. |

The MBSS is in fact somewhat small but I wanted to keep something minimalist for CQB and use my warbelt setup for the rest of my stuff.
The stuff I have there usually work when used in the right environment. It's true that for the sake of details I'll add extras that I wouldn't normally have on me but nothing over the top I'd say.

My 2 cents on that... sure, I don't really need the CAT, huge antennas or scissors, but it's not really bothering or heavy. What's important is that I will choose an impression both for the look AND functionality. I won't take, say, a US Army soldier with all armor add-ons as I know it'll be bulky and hot as hell.
Nor will I take a DEVGRU impression with 1000$ pants to play with^^

Great photo shoot! Very professional pics. Love the attention to details -- like the Pakol hat, the Garmin and the name tape on the camelbak.
Well done! Keep 'em coming ... |

Say, Brakoo; in the 1st Recon pictures, I see the mic for your Comtacs is on the right side... With the real thing, can you switch the mic from one side to the other? I have a knock-off, the mic is on the left, and I'm a lefty, which means when I get a cheek-weld, the mic gets squashed against my face or shoved up my nose. Very annoying.
