M4 mags flopping around

Hey, I carry 6 m4 gbbr mags in a 3 slot pouch on a molly vest. As I run, the weight of my mags cause the pouch and the entire vest to bounce up and down. Which is very noisy and annoying. The vest is on snug. The mags are velcroed in tightly so they don't move around in the slots.

Are there any gbbr users or anyone at all who has done something to remedy this annoyance? I noticed it somewhat goes away if I were to strap the vest to my waist belt, but then I lose the ability to turn my waist. I know real steel mags are comparatively heavy with bullets in them. I wonder what soldiers do?

Is it a plate carrier? A fake plate might help.

Are your pouches properly woven into the molle on the vest?
Or is it just the weight that's the problem?

Switch to double mag pouches (you can get a pouch set of 3 double M4 mag pouches) and ensure that they are properly woven in.

They are woven in properly. Each slot holds 3 mags, but I only have 6 so I put 2 in each. Thanks for the responses everyone.

You could fill some fake plates with sand. Or get real plates.

What kind of rig are you using?

Unfortunately, when you start running mags that weight almost real-steel weight, it's almost impossible to fix that problem, unless you've got a rig specifically designed to carry lots of weight. Most aren't.

EDIT: In real life, to stop this problem, as I run I tuck my arms down and hold the vest with my elbows to stop the bouncing (Imagine a boxing stance... then tuck your elbows into your torso to hold the rig down). Or I just put up with it and run. If I'm running there's usually bigger things on my mind than personal comfort.

A triple mag pouch is huge and would be even more awkward to play in if you had 3 gbbr mags in each. Check your molle again and make sure its weaved through properly. No rows on the rig or pouch skipped and goes all the way down. If it's not the pouch itself then your rig is too soft and likely bunches up creating space between you and the rig for it to bounce around.

Ideally, if you switch out to double mag pouches you'll get better results. At the end of the day, double mag pouches will help with the flopping issue and help retain your mags better. ie. In a triple, when you remove one mag the second one has much more room to bounce around and fall out.

I'm going to have to disagree with you there; most triple mag pouches can be solidly brought down to carry just 2 mags. I do this myself. Heavy mags will have this effect regardless of the pouch they're in; the whole rig will flop around.

Is your rig the correct size for you? It should fit snug, not tight and definitely not loose, otherwise you end up with your rig bouncing around or feeling really uncomfortable.

Solid or not, using doubles would help. Best solution would be stacking shingles to alleviate the issue.

Still depends on what rig he has and how he's using it.

You could also put thick rubber bands around the mag pouches before you weave them in. Just test with two mags in the pouches, then use two rubber bands to hold them as snug as you wish. Then re-weave them onto the vest, and the MOLLE would hold them in place.

I dont think its the mags its the whole rig moving that is the issue

Does you rig have loops for a belt at the bottom? mine does and if i dont use a belt it flops around even with plastic mags, im not sayin the belt on your pants but another belt to use just as part of your rig my rig is just a cheap ass china rig shoulder straps and a mid section strap, but again if i dont use a belt on the bottom too it just flops around

Get a battle belt that is not affixed to your belt loops and attach the vest to this. It will secure the vest to you while still allowing you freedom of movement.

Otherwise consider switching to a lower profile system. If you only have 6 mags consider shingles or maybe the BFG 10 speed system. Both are lower in profile.

Cheers.

I think it's time for a picture. Otherwise the gear eye for the airsoft guy can't help.
