Danner Boots

Hey guys,

I am in the market for a new pair of waterproof 8" boots. The ones made by Danner caught my eye. The Gortex liner is apparently 100% waterproof.

Currently, i only have experience with 5.11. They are great, but their waterproof ability has failed on me in the past. So, i am thinking about something new, and Danner's have caught my eye.

My question is twofold:

1. Does anyone have experience with Danner boots? How are they? How is their longevity? How do they stack up to 5.11 boots?

2. How is this Gortext stuff? I've read a lot about it, but never have had any experience with it.

Regards,

D

I don't know much about Danner, but I am in the market for a new pair of waterproof boots aswell.

I have my eye on a pair of:

Scarpa Kailash GORE-TEX Day Hiking Boots

MEC stocks them:

Here is a great review on GearScout:

"3,000 of their Kailash GTX to the Army, with the bulk going to Rangers and SF guys."

If its good enough for them, its more than good enough for us

sorry, but by fort lewis, is that a model of boot made by danner, or an entirely different boot company altogether?

That's a model.

Danner are and have been for a long time, military approved footwear in the States.

As much as you may want a certain boot - always make sure you can try it on in person before you purchase them. You take a big risk not being able to test them for fit/comfort.

danner 8"...bought in 2006. Played every game in them since (indoor/outdoor)...wear them in the winter...wear them camping/cottage. $200 @ bass pro

Treads are just starting to get shallow now.

Awesome...when these finally die...I'm buying another pair.

Speaking of boots...Does anyone know of any 8" boots with Gore-Tex and ASTM F2413-05 rating? The only one I could find on Danner's website is that disgusting sage green for Air Force issue.

I have been wearing a pair of Danner Pronghorn hunting boots most of the time since early 2008, winter, camping, airsofting, work, etc and they are fucking great. Waterproof, leather and stitching is holding up awesome even the beating they get, soles are worn down mostly but the Goretex is still going strong. Am going to buy another pair after these finally bite the dust.

I've been running the Danner Desert Eagle which has since been renamed the GTX for at least 6 years now and they've been my airsoft, hiking, camping boots ever since. They're still holding and other than a few small cracks on the sole they feel like new even though they don't smell so new anymore.

I had mine for 4 yrs now. I forgot whats the model name. Its cayote brown, Goretex and says gtx. Airsoft abused, also used it as work shoes, hiking and camping. One tough SOB. Definitely getting a pair if it wears out.
