CW vs CCW Threading
Hi all,
I did a quick search then a slightly less quick search but haven't found any solid info. I'm getting an adapter for my Famas to hide a longer inner barrel and have the choice of CW or CCW threading. What do people recommend? How would you go at this? Thanks

Your stock gun comes with some kind of thread to attach either the flash hider or the silencer. In airsoft they typically are 14mm x 1mm thread. Stock TM parts tend to use Left Handed thread(CCW) on the gun. If you want to add extension onto the stock barrel, you will need to have the adaptor with a female CCW thread to attach to the stock gun, then the other end can have male CW or CCW thread. Depends on what muzzle device you want, you choose the appropriate one. Some company only make one or the other, some makes same type of muzzle device in both threading.

ALWAYS check what you have first.
- Unload gun...disconnect power source (i.e. un plug battery) - all of the below is from the perspective of looking down from the muzzle end of your rifle....if you've got more than two brain cells you can do this without actually looking down your muzzle. - if you turn your flashhider clockwise (CW) to tighten it on...you've got CW threading...and buy a CW flashhider. - if you screw it on the otherway...buy the opposite *notation for flashhiders and extensions are the same * note...most rifles are 14mm...but some flashhiders aren't (odd ball ones, but they're still listed here or there). * some notations will be different between sites and makes i.e. 14mm +...14mm - 14mm neg...14mm pos 14+...14- 14CCW...14CW etc.... |

Thanks for the quick replies.
What I was talking about purchasing was this king arms silencer adapter for fa-mas. It replaces the outer barrel so that the outer barrel is really only the silencer, kind of like the Aug phantom kit. Quote:
Now I need to figure out how much of the inner barrel will be exposed and get the proper length silencer to hide it. Thanks guys.

For your information, the stock FAMAS does not have any threads, so all your infos where irrelevant.
Get the CCW one. It is the most used option and will give you a lot more choices for future modifications. |
