Velocity Arms V16a3
Can anyone give me any insight on the V16a3 from Velocity Arms?
I'm looking for a decent armalite platform gun just to use in case my GBB rifle shoots too hot. I am looking for a gun that is sub-$300. Any thoughts on the gun, or any real world testimonials? http://torontoairsoft.com/product.php?id_product=472 |

I believe it is a JG under the hood.
Probably a good gun if you need a loaner or a backup that will definitely be under field limits. Maybe you should get a shorter gun if you want to play in a CQB arena though. Couple that with a 1J spring (~328 FPS on .20's) and you'll be perfect for any place that your GBB is too hot for. Also depending on the system your GBBR uses it might be worthwhile into looking at the RA-Tech NPAS kit to adjust the power of your rifle.

I'm currently equipped with a WE Scar-L and it shoots approximately 500 fps on a .28 round on a fairly warm day. My friend has a similar setup with his Scar and it shot even higher with an NPAS kit. We couldn't lower it for the life of us.

I'm assuming then you don't like in Canada Lol. That gun is alright, it will be fine for a fine for a while, but they aren't the best quality. If I were you, I'd look into getting your Scar's FPS down.

lol yea the downsides for living in Canada and running a Gas gun. So what do you guys recommend, other than the NPAS, to redues my FPS?

You could use a lower FPS gas? I don't know much about GBBR's, but that's a way to lower GBB pistols...so maybe that would work for a GBBR? Someone with actual experience with them could probably help more

Offtopic.
If you run a stock WE SCAR with HFC134A it shoots around 400ish, but if its hot it still might cronie over 400. Save your pennies and get the RA-Tech Upgrade kit for the SCAR, its not that expensive and it includes the NPAS. Ontopic For the price its not a bad choice, its a cheap M16 Platform and would make a fine loaner gun. Its really your call there mate. |

Awesome. Thanks for the input. I feel the need to play both systems, GBBR and AEG, depending on the situation. I would prefer to play my GBBR but if it's blazing hot there's no chance I could.

You know there HAS to be a way, no way could you just ship out guns that shoot that hot stock.
Maybe you should try looking it up on gasguns.info I would assume however that basically you need to replace some parts to make it spew out less gas (therefore you get more economical use of gas). Instead of hi-flow valves or w/e make it low flow. It would however probably require lots of capital to machine the parts however. Basically think of any way that you could either lower the gas flow or increase the "wastage" of gas in cycling and other such functions of a gas gun. I do believe however that someone was mentioning something about machining a piece of metal or plastic for use as a spacer somewhere in their gun (I believe it worked on the same principle as the NPAS kit however was unadjustable) and it dropped their WE GBBR down to something like 380-400 FPS (still shooting hot for CQB but not as bad as it is in it's stock form and perfect for outdoor play as well). Note: No mention of ambient temperature in that persons test (or at least I can remember, YMMV)
