Red Tiger's "SVD" looked amazing though.

Escort gas blowback SVD for the win. (well G&P with Escort internals actually).
Depends on what you're after - the spring one is really quite accurate. It's just single-shot.

I don't know how an escort system would fare, but the G&P gas version would hit you between the eyes from a mile away if it shot as good as it looked. Unfortunately the gas system - while cool - just doesn't cut it for good accuracy. It's too inconsistent. Also, the lack of a hop-up really doesn't help, but I really believe the inconsistency from the gas would be a problem anyway.

Here are some references for the appearances - the differences are easier to see when it's all side-by-side.

And that M76 mod is the cat's ass.

hmm... i see...

with the scope tho on the ak47 "svd" it wouldn't be that much different, would it? anyway if you realy wanted to make it look exactly like a real draganov, couldnt you just buy the springer version and modify it, put in a gear-box.

Hmm, I wonder if it would be possible to do like that SR25, with an extended nozzle to take up the extra length in the receiver...

*I just noticed that the selector switch isn't in the right place relative to the trigger (and consequently, the mechbox) either. The trigger is also lower and further forwards relative to the grip/motor area. That would be easier to fix than the selector though.

Well, that's all in the eye of the beholder of course. People have different feelings about such things - for example some people need the exact part for a gun, or just the right type of pouch for their kit, or it just isn't "right" to them.

It's not that the SVD kit on an AK is a bad choice. The pic in Cassius's post looks pretty nice for example. But if you are looking for the exact SVD look, the SVD mod kit is the wrong tree to bark up.

You want to buy a $1000 dollar gun and mess with it? Are you rich?
No, it's not possible to do this.
