let me know when you write it, or start a thread like aquarmarine'Random Gaijin/Nihonjin Picture Of The Day thread. i wouldnt mind reading something like that once in awhile, i like mp.net but all it is arguing on that site.

Even though it's not practical, a gasmask does add a badass-coolness factor. However, as it's been said NUMEROUS times, gasmasks aren't suitable eye protection. (I searched, I read, okay?) A bummer, since I wouldn't mind making that part of my outfit...
...but I have an idea... I've seen guys play airsoft with just shooting glasses, so tell me if this will work: Wear shooting glasses UNDER the gasmask. So even if the gasmask won't stop the BB, the glasses underneath will. True, your gasmask might get banged up and hole put through it, but your eyes will be safe. I have little experience with airsoft (something I intend to remedy) but I do own an S10, and I have worn my regular glasses underneath, comfortably for long periods, without fogging. It effects the airtight seal around the face, but we don't care about that. As for overheating and restricted breathing, it's not that big of a problem once you get used to it. Certain gasmasks offer better airflow, usually newer ones. Filters add a LOT of resistence, so I'd avoid them. ATTENTION WW2/Cold War buffs: Older filters can also contain ASBESTOS, so be sure that your filter is less than about 20 years old and is unused. In theory, that'll work, but it still depends what the rules on goggles/mask is for the game. If it's a paintball field, you can only use pb mask/goggles, and if it's a private field, it's up to the owner to decide.

I know its not the SAS's sf10, but the Mcu 2/p and 2a/p ( currently used by the SEALs, though they may have moved on and I could be out of date) have ballistic visors. I dont know if they are standard bt replacements are definatley available. I have reard many good things about the mcu and for any SWAT or SF loadouts it would work nicely. As for the SF 10 good work, and if you take out the silicon one way valves it should greatly improve breathing and airflow.

From what I can find on the internet, the MCU 2/P has optional outer lenses made from impact resistant polycarbonate, though I can't find any definative rating for them. The Survivair Opti-Fit, however "Meets ANSI Z87.1-1989 (R-1998)2 standard for impact and penetration." But as mentioned before, from a legality and insurance standpoint, paintball fields must insist on certified "paintball" protection. So you're safe to wear one while airsofting... just not allowed to wear it. I suppose what we really want here is a certified Paintball mask that looks like a gasmask... and less like a Motocross helmet. :P Last edited by falconwind; February 10th, 2007 at 21:53.. |

s10 respirator!
hey whats up im from lima, peru (south america) and we also play airsoft in here. Its kinda cool to wear like the squad that u like the most... in my case is SAS also so i just bought this respirator. A couple of things about it:
i have a size 3 and i dont know exactly where my chin have to fit in... i was thinking that this size is good for me cuz theres also a 5 size that is te smallest one. When i wear it a little bit of my chin isnt covered by the mask. When i weare it with my black helmet looks so great. Fact 2: The lenses are NOT IMPACT RESISTANT i shoot at it at 0 meters in the middle of them and nothing happened and i thought THIS MUST WORK ON BATTLEFIELD. But! When i fired at it at 3 meters with my sig552 (350fps aprox) it cracked in the edge of the circunference so i broke it with a final shot. Now im looking for impact resistant lenses.. but i doub it that there are some for airsoft use. So i was thinking of placing an iron mesh instead of the lenses.. just like an average mesh mask for airsoft. I have a question... how the hell should i remove the lenses?? Cuz when it arrived to my home one of them was out of the mask so i put it again... if they came out once... they could come out again right? Any suggestion? I found on ebay replacement lenses... so the question still remains... how should i take them off? Im not sure if theres any place where i can find ballistic lenses for the s10 respirator... someone knows anything about it? Thanks! Good idea about your solution! Greetings from PERU! Don't remove the lense, sew new ones over top of them then seal it with black silicon caulking.

i was directed over here when i asked about this
yes it should be possible with a proper pair of "shooting glasses" to wair them under them mask the diffeance beteen shooting glasses and safty glasses is shooting glasses are designed to be worrn with ear protection if i can't find a way to get the proper protecgive lense's i'll probly use www.emachine shop and make my self a pair. the discusting party is the california highway patrol and chicago are allowed to purchase and use these thing's but a civilian can't just call up the company and order a peace of poly carbonate ... what am i thinking lol... i have a friend who has acces to the durham collage machine shop and manurfactuing facilitys... this might be cheaper then i though Last edited by BloodDrinker; December 20th, 2008 at 19:47.. Go to Home Depot
Purchase a small sheet of lexan. It's not that expensive, the hardest part is cutting it without screwing it up. |

nods i agree with you on that
i may end up ordering a mount from a machining company that does small runs as few as one part and have impact rated polycarbonate machined to fit the mount i would love to get the authentic ones though |
