co2 to propane idea!?

hi everybody!

i just had an idea while looking my tf11 uzi eating a c02 powerlet. my idea is to install a gbb magazine fill valve on the side of an empty powerlet and to use it as a propane tank (must stay screwed in the magazine) then just put a small hole where the valve is to fill it. the only thing that i'm not shure is : will the powerlet hold enough propane to emty one or two mags??? oh and that is just if i find a way to screw a valve in a powerlet. just an idea...

No it won't hold enough gas not to mention it would be unsafe to try modifying it to hold propane most likely.

It wouldn't hold as much gas, and you'd get less shots per fill than with CO2. And with a regulator on the mag to allow the right flow of CO2, you would probably end up with a lower velocity and rate of fire.

And there's also the obvious danger factor. It wouldn't be safe to try.

That too. C02 mags have way heavier springs holding the valve closed.

DO NOT TRY TO MODIFY A CO2 POWERLET. It is designed for CO2 at a certain pressure, if you exceed that pressure while trying to fill one with propane, it could very well explode. And puncturing one and trying to Mickey Mouse a valve into the hole, and hoping it is attached and sealed good enough to hold under pressure, is foolhardy to say the least.

Liquified propane exerts a pressure of ~130 psi. Liquified CO2 exerts ~800 psi. Exceeding pressure would not be an issue. This is still a bad idea for the various reasons mentioned though.

If your GBB is tuned for 800psi operation, it will not work well at 120psi. If it's power supply is regulated down to 120psi, then you might be able to do something like use propane, but I would guess that a $65 GBB would not include an internal regulator. I would guess that the TF11 is tuned for raw CO2 pressure operations so it's springs would be too stiff for propane and it's valve portings too restrictive for low pressure propane.
