+4 to the Modify ARL and modular gears. I've used both and they're both incredibly good parts.

I stoped using Systema pistons also. I've had them break in my AEGs and some of my clients after just a few hundreds rounds.

Tried the Modify after talking to Stalker and I'm totally satisfied.

Honestly I think its the type of plastic/polycarbonate systema is using thats the problem. The Tappet plates have always been a problem and it seems to be because they a more brittle/less flexible material.

They're using a glass filled material which has a high stiffness, but poorer fracture toughness. I'm not sure that stiffness is an issue with tappet plates as wet noodle TM plates seem to do just fine.

As to SystemA parts in a CA, I'm not sure if CA duplicates every dimension in the TM build so you may be having some multi manufacturer compatibility problems. For instance, some CA mechboxes have wider piston rails which requires you to skive out your piston grooves to get your pistons to slide smoothly.

Also, CA screwed up their piston head design a few years ago. I'm not sure if it's fixed yet, but if you compared a CA piston and piston head assembly, it had the same total length as a TM assembly, but there was a washer between the piston head and the piston. I don't recall exactly which part was different, but swapping out a piston with or without would change the total assembly length which would badly affect the first tooth pickup.

You have to be very careful upgrading your mechbox with another manufacturers parts when you're working with a non TM built AEG. Not all clones duplicate every critical feature in the base TM design. With no part standardization between aftermarket manufacturers and clone builders you sometimes have to pull out some calipers to check certain things.

Yeah, the Systema tappet plate has no flex whatsoever. The slightest bend and it snaps. I tried slightly bending the broken one here, and broke it again with very little pressure. Far too brittle IMO.

As for the part fitment, everything seemed to work fine once I got it all together originally. That gun is the most badass AEG I've fired to date. It could be that there are minor tolerance differences. I know I've read of a LOT of people having the exact same issued had with the piston. It's plastered all over the Internet. Haven't researched the tappet plate yet though. But I have a spare TM one as well, and it seems quite flexible, as is the stock CA one that I put back into the gun.

I think i've seen more negative reviews about systema parts than good

In my set-up im running a M120 spring with a modify piston, tappet plate, cylinder, cylinder head, air nozzle, sorbo pad. Soon to be installed polycarbonate piston head, and the current fps is 368-375. I think once I install my new piston head it will increase my fps my 8-12 or a little more, so roughly around 388-390. These chrono tests were done with using mad bull .25. The rifle sounds great and I tear it down about every 10,000 rounds to check out the internals and still know signs of visible wear or damage.....about 25,000-30,000 bb's fired.

So +1 to modify parts.....

I'm also a fan of Modify parts. I've had ICS, TM and Deep Fire polycarbonate pistons fail on me but never a Modify one. I also love their springs and piston heads. Great parts for a great price. You can't really argue.

I've had poor/mixed results with Guarder parts...some seem ok, others are questionable at best.

The systema parts are shiny and a lot of show. Honestly though, over priced for the most part. But...I swear by their Silent Head Sets...

Modify parts have been very good. From bushings to full out kits. Even their shims are nice to work with. I have a couple of failed pistons...but they were attached to other brand piston heads (one was Guarder, the other was Element) where the plastic collar that holds the bearing ring and thrust plate cracked/shattered and I think that led to the piston breaking.

For tappet plates, personally, I think a little flex is better than brittle/stiffness. Stock TM, KA, Modify have all worked well for 10's of thousands of shots. The JG, dboys, etc....all seem very brittle.

For cylinders I've had good success with everything from bling-bling chrome lined jobbies to what looks like an aluminum pipe from home depot. As a side note...the cheap-ass looking aluminum one has held up the best out of the lot (very similar to good old stock brass ones)...good enough that it's in my primary M4.

Deepfire poly pistons are tough as sin. But I wouldn't mix them with other piston heads unless you check the OAL and sector gear engagement.

When you've got that many rifles and shooting that many shots...you're bound to have the odd part failure here or there. Sad but true.
