Since you live in Calgary, go to a hunting store or a gun store and get teh paint there. Ask for camo spray paint, etc. Hunters tend to largely use it on bows, some paint their guns, but you should be able to find at least the H.S. Camo brand name there.

found some at wholesale sports. Its HS
Features: With leaf stencil • Four 16 oz. cans of permanent spray paint • Colours: Marsh grass (tan), Mud brown, Flat black & Olive drab • Instruction sheet included. Will these be ok? or should i keep looking? I was thinking of attempting a cadpat design. |

I just painted my VSR for the very same reason, to make it feel better. I used spray truck bed liner for a base coat which gives it a nice textured feel then hit it with krylon. Looks alot like my old KJW stock now, nice. Both are available from canadian tire and will run you jut over 10 bux for both.
Cheers. |

Found a product a while agot, called plastidip. It is some kind of rubber that you dip whatever you want it. I think it is possible to apply it with some brush too.
It gives the exact same feel as the rubber coating on electrician tools (ie cutters) |

ok so, I decided to go with the HS because I cannot find any other brand. and yes i did go and double check at canadian tire. they didnt even know what i was talking about. (asked a few older people)
I bought a dollar store gun to test it out on and it worked great. but i could easily scratch the paint off with my nail. I sanded the surface and cleaned it with rubbing alch. but i didnt prime it. Is there a way to seal this paint without making it shinny? or should i really consider getting a metal and plastic primer for my vsr? |

i almost begining to wonder if it's not that canadian tire isn't carrying the krylon camo anymore, but that it's becoming way to popular.... i had the same problem trying to find it in edmonton last month and bought the last 3 cans i could find in the city...
