Do fake plates for carriers exist?

Those look flatter than my 6th grade girlfriend. One of the common themes seems to be that the slight curvature makes these things more comfortable to wear.

They're made of foam. I don't think you have to worry about comfort.

You have 5 options. From cheapest to fanciest:

1 - DIY with a bunch of layers of foam mat. IMHO, these suck (foam mat is only suitable to fake soft armor, no plates. The size you want. Cost 5-10.

2 - Fake hollow plates. Lots on chinese websites and probably on some canadian ones as well (airsoftdepot.ca and similar). Generally M plates and dimensions are usually off. 20-40 depending on where you get them.

3 - Good fake plates. Made of solid plastic and curved, like LOG Precision: https://www.facebook.com/logprecision/?fref=ts. Weight is heavier than foam, but AFAIK lighter than real ones. Most sizes possible. Price varies.

4 - Actual training plates, non-ballistic, weighted. Team Wendy and others make them. Most sizes available. Price from 50/pair (used, if you're lucky) to $200/pair, depending which ones you get.

5 - Real used plates. Can be had fairly cheap in the US... but they can't be exported legally so I guess it's not an option?

Usually expensive in Canada.

I currently have #2, but #3 are my personal choice and they're on my shopping list.

The plastic ones are almost too ridged, but they'll do the trick and last forever. Home made means super sweat and moisture absorption, and if done properly are usually about the cost of good ones anyways. With the laser cut foam they curve to the body nicely, are lighter weight and if the foam is proper, they don't take on moisture easily. J-Tac are nice. To be honest I can't remember the brand of mine, possibly J-Tac. I've had two types of 'do-it-yourself', starting with high grade foam, cut to size, then glued down in layers, I've had plastic, the common airsoft hollow type, and now laser cut. They're far superior.

I think you can get foam people use for cosplay. Cut it, heat it up and slap it into the PC and wear it so it curves to your body contours! It's better than the hollow plastic plates.

Ive had the hollow plastic ones and filled it with plaster. Messy job and sometimes the plaster didnt dry. Although it did simulate the weight and rigidity of real training plates. I ended up getting a pair of real training plates from Warrior Trail that were on sale for $70 for both from rdsc.ca. Dont think they have them anymore.

Are you going with the 10mm 15mm or 20mm plates?

Yes, J-Tac are laser cut, closed cell foam. I believe mine are 15mm, but it's personal preference really. Take a look at your PC and see what you comfortably have room for. The thicker they are they bigger your profile, but the thinner they are the less they may fill out the PC. I thought mine were curved/contoured already when I got them, if not, they certainly are now.

These guys don't seem to have a website. Do you have any details on the material here. They sell foam backers which leads me to believe the plates are made of something more rigid.

I'm also assuming these guys are American. Are there any issues with these coming across the border that you know of?
