Calling all ICS M4 Owners - potential buyer here

I've been eyeing a few ICS M4s recently, and I really like how they make their own styles. Specifically, I've been looking at the UK1/TransforM4, both the short and long barrel versions.

My question is all about internals/reliability. My plan is to run this gun stock, so Im wondering how solid is the gearbox? How long will it last me on stock internals?

Also, not a huge fan of the front wiring, especially since I need to completely remove the handguard to add the battery, and since I don't like the look of wires in the handguard. How hard is it to re-wire to the buffer tube/stock?

changing front wiring to rear wiring in a normal v2 requires you to open the gearbox and possibly fuck up shimming or lose parts if you aren't competent at working inside the gearbox.

Personally if you have everything you need to run it front wired, run it until something breaks then have it all done at once.

If its a split gearbox, I'm not sure exactly how the wire routing works.

I futz with V2s, V3s and V6s. I could be wrong... but probably, most likely not, as far as I know.

Been kinda thinking about buying one of these IIRC they are simply a two piece V2 so it should be as easy as rewiring a normal one.

You do know that ICS makes a rear wired version of the transform4. ICS-264 and ICS-265 right?

Is this the one you're talking about? Searched 264 in the search bar and this came up.

I have worked on AEGs before. I know the way around a gearbox and how it works, I just don't want to actually work on it like before. I want something solid that I'll use on occasion, and not all the time.

That is correct
ICS 260 is the Transform4 Carbine Front wired
ICS 264 is the Transform4 Carbine Rear wired

Likewise ICS 261 is the Transform4 Rifle Front wired
ICS 265 is the Transform4 Rifle Rear wired

I've owned an older ICS for years and worked on/handled a couple of newer ones.

Personally I think their strengths are their split gearbox and externals. short of at least Krytac internals and I'm disappointed with most AEG stock internals, and while ICS is fine with a stock spring, i dont feel you can omit tuning them. They come with a VERY thick industrial white grease and are usually poorly shimmed relatively speaking.

I would buy one again for sure. They're very easy to learn tech work on and come with solid enough internals that all you need is a tune-up to have a fine gun.
