Quick Change Gear Box - Replacing Spring Guide

I have a E&C quick change V2 gearbox. which just seized on it's second game day :banghead: . I have always planned on upgrading the internals, but just not so soon. Guess this is a prime example of getting what you paid for.

Part of my upgrade is to replace the stock spring guide with a new unit c/w bearings. As I have the Quick Change feature, can I use any spring guide? Think of this one with a PDI-130% Pro spring (want to ensure I stay below 400fps, would like to be in the 375FPS range)

Some photos of the stock spring guide;

Edit - Don't care if I lose the quick change feature.

If you just put a washer and use a piston head with bearings, it should be good enough.

That way you can keep the quick change

Do you have access to a lathe? I haven't seen any quick change guides with 4 tabs before. Just 2. If the steel is solid past where the threads end, it could be turned down to take the front end off a guide that uses a one piece top like the madbull.

Or as above, get a pair of washers that are sized right, put some grease between the guide and the washers and that will work too

Think I will try the washers at the end of the spring guide.

Taking it one step further, what do you think of a nylon, or PTFE washer, sandwiched between the spring guide base and a washer?

My other opinion was just to replace the gearbox shell, but that is ~$50.

Nylon or Teflon washer between guide & steel washer good.
