Gear Grease?
So im finishing up a shim job on a gearbox and now i just need some gear grease, now ive read that white lithium grease is the way to go but every store i check they either are out of stock or only have massive tubs of it. Now I do have a tube of bicycle bearing grease, would that work for gear/bushings?
this is what i have: |

if you are looking for the smaller packages check Airsoftparts.ca
and other airsoft stores. you might even be able to get some at some Paintball Pro shops. as for the tube you do have. whats in it? as in is it oil based? or what? |

I would try to stick with an airsoft specific grease to ensure you are using something designed to lessen the ware on high speed gears.
It wont be found locally, but I REALLY like to use the ARS greases. http://airsoftresearchsyndicate.com/...tegory&path=38 I have had amazing results with both the gear grease and the O-Ring grease.

I would stay away from using any petroleum products in the gun at all, no matter what the chance of it coming in contact with plastic or rubber parts.
If you can find some FrogLube somewhere, go for that. I've heard of it practically working miracles. A small container will last you a very long time and you can safely use it anywhere. It's also completely non-toxic and biodegradable. It's not really a local store sort of a thing though. You can order it from stores like One Shot Tactical in Ontario.

Froglube could probably be sourced locally for him, just about any gun store should have it.

I have used Schwinn bicycle lube (the clear non-petrol stuff) before and it works just fine, sticks to gears like a fat kid on a cheesecake.

I know that bike chain lubes are fine because they are in contact with some rubber parts on a bike. I was actually going to try the Parktool Polylube when I get a chance to pick up a canister.

"waterproof grease" bahahahahaha
moly grease, moly dry film, bicycle chain wax, or anything extremely sticky will work well, just make sure it's not heavy in petroleum since it melts natural rubber. |

permatex has a synthetic brake lube in a little tube.. not the big green tube at canadian tire.. it's a little white tube the grease itselfe is purple. that stuff should be safe for rubber as it's used for brake caliper pins which are always in contact with rubber boots.

What do you think of this stuff guys? Found it in a local hobby shop seems like it could work
http://woodlandscenics.woodlandsceni...m/HL656/page/1 EDIT: So also it seems a local paintball place sells G&G gear grease how does that fair against anything else? Last edited by DropTheBomb; August 23rd, 2013 at 14:01.. |
