FPS for akm help
Hey guys im new to airsoft, and bought a CYMA akm. On the retailers website it said the gun shot around 400 fps but i went into a store nearby to chrono it, and it turned out to shoot 440. Now most of the nearby fields i have looked at have a 400 fps limit, so bought a new spring (advanced airsoft design m110). Dude at the store told me it would make it shoot around 400 fps, but i searched a bit online and it seems to change it to 350ish (not 100% sure). I planned on using this rifle mostly for outdoor games, and grabbing a pistol later on for indoor cqb. So do any of you guys know where the fps would end up? And also would it be wiser to just to use a 350ish fps spring b/c then I can use it wherever or is it much better to have 400 fps for outdoors?

350fps will be more than enough velocity to make you competitive; better to focus on developing your personal skills and then worry about tweaking your rifle out till later. Welcome to the sport, where are you located? We could help you more if you completed your profile.

350 fps leaves room for hopup and inner barrel upgrades down the road as those can add 20-30 fps to your gun. I always recommend m110 springs for that reason.

M110 would be around 360 and M120 would be around 390-400, both depending on how good your gun's airseal is, and if you have a bearing piston head and/or bearing spring guide or not.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, and i will be updating my info soon. So the M110 spring i bought will be around 350 fps? I'm not sure why the guy working there said 400 (the brand is advanced airsoft design)... Well that's good though, now i don't have to drive back to return it. The gun is cyma cm036A bought new, so stock everything, not sure about air seal/spring guide/ect since im pretty much a noob.
