PRC 6 pin to kenwood 2 pin adapter
I need to build a PRC to Kenwood 2 pin adapter. I know the pinouts for the PRC. The last two pins seem to be unused. Does the PRC radio have anything using/ connected to pinout E and F?
Is there any diodes, conductors, or resistors required to match the difference between the PRC and kenwood plugs? Help would be appreciated. Last edited by KrashRider; September 27th, 2012 at 15:02.. |

I cannot answer your question directly, but here is the Kenwood pinout if that helps.

That helps 100% for pinout matching.
Okay this is what I have for numbers: Wouxon Radio using Kenwood 2 pin - Sprk 0.03v, PTT 4.99v, Mic 4.99v Motorola MTS2000 with adapter to PRC - Sprk 0.06v, PTT 3.0v, Mic 5.0v, During transmit pins E and F are showing a voltage of approx 1.5v PRC Pin Out: http://cryptomuseum.com/crypto/usa/u229/index.htm Last edited by KrashRider; October 3rd, 2012 at 07:57.. |

Can anyone answer what are pins E and F used for in the 6 pin U229?
Just got information from another forum about this. Someone with an adapter made for the ICOM radio posted pictures. On that adapter the pin outs E and F are left empty. I still don't know what the Motorola is sending to those pin outs though which are usually for data. Last edited by KrashRider; October 3rd, 2012 at 14:29.. |

Wouxon Radio using Kenwood 2 pin - Sprk 0.03v, PTT 4.99v, Mic 4.99v
When the mic button on the radio is pushed the voltage on the Mic line drops to 0.04v. The Motorola has no drop in volts on the Mic line when the mic button is pushed. It would appear I need to use a capacitor on the Mic line to keep the voltage from dropping too much is this correct? |

Depends what is the impedence of the headset (its mic) you're using.

Its for a Quietpro system. Specs say:
Input imped >10kohm Output imped <100ohm input level max10V peak Output level max 300mV peak |

Any chance you could do a writeup so that others might be able to create an adapter if needed?
Thanks! |

I won't be doing a write up at this time. Reason being depending on what type of system the PRC downlead is coming from and what type of radio connected to there could be impedance matching issue.
The adapter I made works when used with a Nacre QuietPro system and Wouxon radio but may not work with another combination. Last edited by KrashRider; October 18th, 2012 at 07:27.. |

Please don't PM me about this. I am not a radio tech or electronics guy. What I posted is what I know, I can't answer anything more than what is here.
Cheers and good luck. |

Any more on this? I have been trying to dodge the 70 bucks for the prc-k1 adaptor and I cant find anything closer than what you have here on this forum. Is there any more advice to be had?
