Help with new radio
So, finally transitioning to a 4w radio and I was wondering which one wud you guys suggest between the Puxing 888K and Wouxun KG-UVD1P? I tried going through both their specs and it looks similar, so some hand on experience stories wud greatly help.
And secondly, wud I have any problems importing them into Canada? I don't want the customs up my ass. |

Either one will do. I actually have that wouxun and a Puxing777 buy have no real preference on which to use.
No issues importing. Tech seller usually has these in stock. |

^^Thanks for input coach. Can you tell me how complicated the programing is on both?

For the wouxun, I used the programming cable and downloaded the most current software. The supplied version was out of date and glitchy. Set my base channels which are saved on my laptop as default and modify the hand held on the field as necessary. Before the next game or trekking event, I'll reset to my base channels and go at it again. Weather channels (NOAA) are also added for the locations that I will be in.
I do not pre-program sub tones. I will manually program them as necessary but try to avoid using them. For the Puxing, I had frank send it to me at work. Keyed up and programmed it manually in 5 minutes. |

Both will do about the same for you, but I personally prefer the Wouxun. I bought the KG-UV6D radios because they have better transmission volume, but I have PX-888's and two KG-UV1D's as well. One benefit here in the US is that the Wouxun is certified for business use where the PX-888K is not.
