Genuine police uniforms

After reading the thread(s) relating to the legalities of CADPAT, it got me thinking...

Through surplus shopping, ebay, gun forums, salvation army/value village etc, I have collected many police shirts, for example OPP, Toronto Police, SQ etc, as well as many of the shoulder patches. Just neat things to collect and display...

Obviously by owning them, provided they where legally obtianed, having them on my corkboard (for the crests) or in the closet is legal, right? (just making sure there isnt some craaaazy law out there!)

Now, not only in law but in practice, what are the legalities of buying/selling/trading/wearing so I can look all emo or whatever/playing airsoft in?

If this has been asked, sorry, I searched damnit!

Thanks,

Jamie

You can wear whatever you want in private.. in public however you can be charged for impersonating a military/officer pretty easily so as long as your not wearing it to and from the field and in a mall, I think youll be just fine.

You can own them but you can't wear them in public.

I have played airsoft with my police uniform before but when I go outsite, I hide it.

The same goes with POLICE tags. You can have them, play with them, but in public, remove or hide them.

Wearing a police uniform on the field is stupid.

Need an explanation?

Suppose the REAL police show up and I level a rifle at one of them thinking it's the uniformed player. I don't think I need to explain the consequences of such a scenario.

Look, just use your head. If something seems like a bad idea, then for christsakkes it probably IS.

That could be... Interesting. To say the least.

Anyways, why would you want to anyways? That''d be like putting a bullseye on your back... you KNOW people would pick on you in squirmishes. I think the only good thing *migh* be the pants for daily wear. Personally, I gotta start looking for pants that'll take 2" belts. Stupid Randy Rivers.

Yeah, wearing a police officer uniform isnt really the best idea. You don't normaly see a regular city/rcmp police officer running through a forest with a MP5 unless there on the ert team...In otherwords it would just look dumb.

I think you would be able to tell a real police officer from a airsoft police officer. But never the less I'm sure it's still possible.

Overall, thats what I figured.

MadMorbius: Very good point that I had yet to think of.

Not that I was planning on wearing the stuff anyways, more then half is to small for me! (damnit, gotta loose some fattage)...

I was mostly curious if there was some law specificly relating to it - common sense aside.

Thanks for the responses
