EOTech Clones - Upgrade for brighter reticule
Hey guys, I had spare time today so I decided to disassemble my clone EOTech to clean it up, and found out that the LED emitting the reticule isn't the brightest at all. So I went up to a local store to find another similar LED which would output more light than the EOTech's original.
The new one is only red as the retailer didn't have red/green LED, but the result is fabulous. I then decided to order some red/green brighter LED and will be receiveing these in a moment. I didn't take a picture before the switch, but I'll take a picture tomorrow to show how it goes on outside light in middle day. Tough this would be useful to share, as I know that a lot people would complain on that point ![]() FYI, the LED is a 3mm red/green. |

Was thinking about stripping down my aimpoint T1 and trying the exact same thing! Either that or mod it to use 2 batteries. Il post my progress if I'm successful!
Nicely done! I frign hate Barely seeing my optics in bright areas! |

Make sure the LED can take twice the initial voltage if you double the battery ! :P

my eotech clone is plenty bright, easily used for outdoors, my issues have always been clarity of the lens-making it difficult to shoot using one eye, and the slight parralax(havent noticed any accuracy problems yet though).
With a holo sight replica, does the distance between the led and lense matter? I find with my cheaper plain red dot there is a quarter of the parrallax(to the point that you only notice a slight movement when you move to the outer most edges) and the led seems about 1.5 times farther from the lense than my eotech clone(which cost significantly more, and my cheap red dot has very low parralax, is plenty bright, extremely clear lense, and multiple different reticles that I prefer over the eotech.) Is the lense in a holosight clone anything special? If all it took was a powerful led, creating a cutout screen for the led(custom reticle would be great) and a lense a custom optic would be awesome and possibly cheaper. |

I'm not sure on that one, but I'd tend to say that the lens has a focus in it, so whereever your eye is from the center of the Holo sight the reticule would stay on the target, but I could be wrong.

I'm thinking of picking up a repro aimpoint micro from Huang to replace my repro Eotech. Although I've never used an aimpoint so I'm not sure if it'd be easier or not.

I believe most clones are reflex sites, not holosights.

I'm cross eye dominate and have no problems with clone reflex sights and/or the real Holosights.

ALL EOTech replicas are reflex sights. Only the real things are laser-generated holograms and completely parallax-free.

Hmmm, then why the difference between optics? I've seen toy red dots that move when you move, some clones that have a small shift when you move and a few good ones that stay on target within a good range no matter the angle you areviewing the reticle.

Bushnell/EOtech Holosights work on a completely different technology that no airsoft clone has successfully replicated to date. The difference, is that reflex sights work by reflecting the visible LED off an internal surface. Thus, the placement of the dot is IN the optic, whereas Bushnell/EOTech Holosight laser technology focuses the projection of the reticule 30 feet-infinity in front of the optic. As such, you only have to put the sight up in to your sight plane and focus on your target. The optic does the rest to superimpose a crystal clear (laser crisp? arr arr arrrr) dot on to your target. When you have a sight radius of 30 feet versus 1.5 inches, the reduction in parallax is quite significant. Anyways, this is all jibber jabber - until you actually take a look through a REAL Holosight, you will never understand how cool it is, and then all these words that I'm saying will finally make sense. All of a sudden, your ONLY following goal, is to acquire a real Holosight...
